I think there referring to things like the forgettable villains, cheeky humor, strong independent woman that don't need no man, ripped lead actor showing off just how ripped they are somewhere in the movie, references to other stuff in the MCU, tension that really doesn't go anywhere. Stuff like that.
Though I will say Ant Man is enjoyable for what it is though I'm still annoyed with how Marvel opted not to use Ultron's actual back-story but that's a different set of complaints.

Yeah, basically this. Same cookie cutter stuff we've been getting for a while. I'll say this, though. Michael Pena is the funniest out of any Marvel cinematic character so far. He was the MVP here.

I didn't find it all that unique. I did love the first parts in when he first got the suit and shrunk, but then I kept on thinking of Honey I Shrunk The Kids. Not a bad thing, since I loved that movie when I was a kid. I found half the movie kind of boring and one of the weaker villains in the series.

Yep. That’s great news! Now Marvel can get a young hot actress to play her rather than some old women!
Anyway, the movie was better than I expected. Currently I’d give it a 6/10, so a bit better than average.

I was waiting for Golgo to answer that, because most likely he is just repeating some buzz words and opinions he hears from others.

I can write examples of "formulas" from different sets of film franchises the same way.
"Star Wars formula", "Aliens formula", Predator formula", "Terminator formula", "fast and the furious formula", etc, etc
Since when is this considered a bad thing? Oh thats right, is bad when people want to create imaginary flaws because of company wars.
Every franchise follows specific "formulas" or else why even be a franchise or even be related movies?
The DCU has 1 movie in their resume and I can write a quick summery of what their "formula" will be. Especially basing it off of what Affleck and snyder said about embracing their "dark & mature" tone.
DCU formula will basically be the same as the MCU just change out the humor for forced edgy mature themes, and everything be dark, souless, and desaturated.
There will be tons of destruction porn, 3rd act strong brick slugfests that level a city (zod, doomsday), excessive emotional situations , over the top fights (in a supposedly realistic take on these characters), hints at bigger threats (like Thanos but in this case Darkseid), annoying love interests, scowls and mad faces everywhere, religious symbolism, etc.

Cookie cutter? This is one of Marvel's most unique films. The criticisms you guys are making are pretty weak because they're simply outright wrong IMO. The criticisms you both make sound like they come from a pessimist who's speculating how the movie is gonna be without having seen it.

I pray WB can change things up a bit and not do the same thing over and over. To me it gets a little irritating.
just literally got back from seeing this.. I liked it.. the story was good... Douglass was really well used and excellent as Hank... I've always liked Evangeline Lilly so she was great 😄 .... Humor was spot on and funny.. Rudd and Stoll played off each other well.. Even seeing
Spoiler:was a pleasure to see.
Anthony Mackie
oh well bring on Cap Civil War..
oh and this so called war between Marvel and DC doesn't even exist except in the minds of dumb ass idiots who need 5150 holds.. btw the BVS trailer looked so good on an IMAX screen ..
