So I just finished watching the movie earlier today..I didn't hate it, but I do understand why it's been getting mixed reviews.
Are there going to be more films in this franchise? I would hope so, since even though I liked the movie it's not exactly going out on a high note.
If they do a sequel I'd prefer if they didn't try to do anything about the Phoenix again.
^ Apocalypse was purple in X-Men the animated series. Don't recall him being purple in this though.
Ya know, with the not so permanent deaths in the comics Apocalypse has had here and there, I'm gonna hope (however likely or unlikely) that it's the same case here, especially with Cable supposedly being in Deadpool 2, along with the reported X-Factor film somewhere in the mix. An Apocalypse return would be perfect for all that (I mean without Apocalypse, what is Cable's motivation?), especially if he's handled better by someone else than he was here.
... But that's prolly me being too hopeful and optimistic.

Well for a film with Apocalypse in the title, this was a little too boring at parts to consider it good. Also there was a whole lot of Jlaw not being blue or doing anything of note.
I'm glad Jlaw wasn't blue. I actually don't like the Mystique makeup for her. She has like these craters on her face..as if they were trying to model her face to be reminiscent of the surface of the moon.

Yeah hopefully Apoc returns in future instalments and they make him more and more like comic book Apoc like they've done with Magneto over time.Only $65million OW. $250 WW but not out in China yet. I reckon it will gross $600mill max WW. A lot less than Deadpool and DOFP.
Agreed👆

Yeah X-Men's not really as big as people think in the comic book movie market.Aside from Deadpool that is.
The Xmen are a team and should be treated as such
The main thing being mishandled in these films also are badass fight scenes... where are the badass fight scenes?!?!
X men movies fight choreography is turning into laser tag where people simply blast beams at eachother. YAWN!
I want to believe these guys have powers are know how to use them... rather than watch them fumble around as if they're kids slapping the air until one of them actually hits the other.

The market is there if the movie is good. Look at Days of Future Past and it's take. It was a great movie with X-Men in it. It just wasn't a great X-Men movie. It was the Wolverine, Magneto, and Mystique show.
Deadpool stayed close to the source material. Imo, an X-Men movie with the 90's X-Men roster and storyline would do a billion. There are a lot of Cyclops, Jean Grey, Gambit, Storm, and Rouge fans out there. They show a movie with Wolverine the brawler and expect that to bring in Avengers numbers?
The characterization of the team is complete wrong in the movies. Characters that should not be featured prominently are. They should just have the 90s team and get their characters right.
Cyclops is the boyscout who constantly questions Xavier's views on mutant affairs.
Jean is bleeding heart that is caughtin a love triangle.
Wolverine is the a$$hole loner of the team who always wants to do things his way.
Stom is the second in command who's acts as a mother figure and mentor to the rest of the team.
Gambit is the mysterious cajun rebel.
Rogue is the southern belle with Superman abilities.
Jubilee is the kid that thinks she knows best that constantly runs into trouble.
What was everyones favorite parts of the movie?
For me, Michael Fassbender owned all the scenes he was in; he's an excellent actor and is very convincing as Magneto...
I really liked the part where, who I assume was Scarlett Witch, was killed; you could feel Fassbenders grief and when he got that necklass in his hand, you knew those soldiers were dead meat...
And then his speech at the factory; that part was well done as well...
I really liked Apocalypses entrance and his dealing with the factory workers; you could feel Apoc's superiority over Mags there (well atleast I could)...very well done IMHO.
The scene where Mags is in his shielding was awesome too; Mystique and Quicksilver knew they couldnt do anything to Mags directly and the dialog between the 3 was well written...
Yeah, the movie had a few flaws, but as a whole it was enjoyable; the parts with Mags contained real emotion...I thought Singers handling of these scenes was flawless.
I also liked the depiction of Apocalypse; I always imagined him as some ancient egyptian pharaoh with tremendous powers and he nailed it...
Yeah, Singer didnt follow the comic in this regard as the comic version of Apoc sports Celestial technology, but I was very satisfied by what I saw nonetheless...
8.5/10...

Oh I agree 100%.
In Marvel's hands X-Men would easily be a Billion dollar franchise.
In fact watch I bet the new Spider-Man will gross a Billion now that Marvel's got creative control.
Unfortunately Fox will never let X-Men go. And I doubt they would ever reboot and do a Sony/Marvel type deal either letting Marvel call the shots.
Our best hope is they give up Fantastic Four, and start learning their X-Men properties are infinitely better and more popular when they stick to the source material.
film has made already $ 265 million worldwide...

it's off to a pretty good start.. It won't make Days of Future Past dough but FOX should be happy with the final result
