Saw it again today and still loved it though my opinion on Lawrence's acting hasn't changed in fact I think it's even worse on the big screen. Like when she's talking to Magneto as he's tearing up the Earth, her tone is so flat and unemotional its like she's just talking to a drive through window. Still the 2nd best Superhero film for me after Civil War

^ I found BvS way more entertaining. Not even 1 fight in this film which stood out IMO (aside from QS punching Apoc and Jean going Phoenix, but both of those were like a few seconds each). And Apoc was an abomination. They just used his name IMO.
Well the horesmen and the Xmen fought, but they didnt concentrate on that much.
Why the hate for Apoc though? What were you wanting or expecting?
He was just wanting something closer to the comics as far as appearance for Apocalypse, which is understandable. I still liked him here for what he was, but that kind of thing can be more an issue for some people than others, especially when you see how well MCU movies follow accurate appearances down to a T.
Was Apoc's attire in this film supposedly some ancient Egyptian style armor or something? Thought it was cool looking, though mixed on it, but obviously wasn't the Celestial tech he sported in the comics and cartoons. But still, Oscar Isaac did a better job playing him than I thought compared to the trailers. Main problem was he didn't feel intimidating enough in a number of his scenes. Guess size had something to do with it (he was even shorter looking than, what, Magneto?), which wouldn't of been a problem if they showed him with his size changing ability outside the astral plane, but ya know.
Apoc could've been done a lot better, but he also could've been a lot worse, if Dr Doom's portrayal and such are anything to go by.

Yeah his appearance and power set.
I just felt like they made a random invincible villain, gave him connections to ancient Eygpt, painted him blue and Voila there's our movie Apocalypse.
To be fair, random invincible villain has always been more or less his MO as an X-Men antagonist (except when he's fighting anyone other than X-Men), with PIS or some plot device (in this case the Phoenix Force) being usually or mostly the only thing that beats him. He usually had a fair bit more character background and stuff to go along with it though, which unfortunately wasn't the case here.
I just saw this on this movies wiki:
"Billboards in Los Angeles and New York City promoting the film garnered controversy for showing an image of Apocalypse choking Mystique, with critics saying the ad disregards the issue of violence against women. Among those opposed to the material was actress Rose McGowan, who told The Hollywood Reporter "There is a major problem when the men and women at 20th Century Fox think casual violence against women is the way to market a film. There is no context in the ad, just a woman getting strangled. The fact that no one flagged this is offensive and, frankly, stupid." In apologizing for the billboard, Fox said it intended to remove the image from circulation."
Really? People are stupid.

I use my wife as a gauge usually. Man, she HATED BvS. Fell asleep more than once and fidgeted in her seat the whole movie. Asked to rate, she gave CW 7/10, Apoc 5/10, BvS 2/10 (IIRC).
At least I saw her tearing up during Apoc (tho, I will admit, the movie went the "cheap emotional issues" route to get ppl emotionally involved).

Like MS Warehouse said, certain people will always find dumb shit to complain about. Getting upset over a movie billboard is just moronic.
I mean for me why not think..out of all the characters they could of chose to show him choking, they chose Mystique. That is not a negative for women. I can't even understand how it represents "casual violence". There is nothing casual about an immortal mutant trying to murder you.
Damn Rose McGowan, I used to watch you on Charmed. Which wait a minute..that show had a lot of BS "I am woman hear me roar" stuff, so now it makes sense that she started this off.

Yes, people are stupid in this regard. Just like the people asking for Elsa to have a girlfriend or Captain America to have a boyfriend. These idiots all need a cause.
I dunno, Cap sometimes looks like he wants to bang Falcon just a little bit. Like he wouldn't be happy about it the next morning, but he wouldn't regret it either.

My wife preferred X-Men as well. Only speaking for myself. I had huge issues with Apoc, and found some plot points really silly.
Now those kind of things I can overlook if the action blows me away, but it didn't with this.
Whilst with BvS some of the Batman action sequences were really good.
Which is why I personally found BvS much more entertaining.
In terms of the general audience both films had huge 2nd weekend drops, but BvS was dealing with bigger numbers. Critics have slammed both, but the audience rating is massively better than critics ratings for both.
So it's safe to say both have had some mixed reception.

Was Magneto's little girl that died in this movie supposed to be a young Wanda Maximoff? Was never really quite clear on that, but if it was, I would've liked if she had lived just so you could have another Quicksilver kind of scenario. lol
in apocalypse his daughter was Anya, in dofp that little girl was lorna and upstairs was wanda

Only problem with Jean though still is how they seem to act like the phoenix force is a natural part of her mutation, rather than the cosmic entity that forms a symbiosis with her and stuff.
Jean herself kinda hinted that her powers don't feel natural. I think the next film will focus on that
