Smaug was too busy masturbating over their treasure. When the dwarves came in and officially gave him a headache he went out to kill more. He wants this ragtag bunch of dwarves to continue to be homeless.

Balrog died and there is no proof actually Gandalf even died. He just came back stronger. Cujo dies again.

There's no proof Balrog died either. There's proof dwarves trolled Smaug for 20 minutes though. Dragons are the weakest things in LotR.
