Based on ?

Was just talking about Dalf's powers earlier today. Does he get any more magical showings in the two Hobbit films?

Nothing really on top of what else he's done. Nothing comparable to Potter magic.

Yes, his magic abilities are better showed. Teleportation, power to force away a spell of invisibility, holding his own for some time against Sauron while weakened, Using a mild version of telekinese to force a large group of orcs back. But nothing that will put him on Ganondorfs level, but Gandalf has been given some love 🙂

Can't speak for Bavmorda or Balthezar since I've never seen them.

As for the other three, Ganon and Volde are probably more versatile as magicians than Gandalf based on what we've seen, but he can probably block most of Volde's attacks.since spells in HP seem to require a direct line to the target.

Physically, I doubt Voldemort can contend with either of them; Ganondorf takes that without question. Though, Voldemort and Ganon can both aparate, so that may be a bit of a problem for Gandalf.

I haven't seen all of LotR or HP in a long-ass time, so I can't conclusively determine this.

Spoiler:
Haven't y'all done 'Ganondorf vs. Voldemort' before?

Avada Kedavra = GG. awepeach

The guy was nothing compared to Sauron. Don't act like he was anything to Sauron.

So is being stabbed in the heart.

It didn't work too great on Ganondorf when it wasn't being backed by a planetary force.

Somewhat better? I can live with that. Still got a stoic elf and British dragon to perk my interests into watching.

So that's Gandalf pushed away from the top for not getting much of a boost. Memory is highly fuzzy on the latter two. Bavmorda's spells were iirc comparable to the most basic magic attacks, like a HP 4th year duel. Now Balthazar, might have something here. Overall his magical potency wasnt all to powerful, though third place in this thread, where I see him being a threat is his dynamic spells. Of all the magicians here I believe he was the one casting out spells fastest and on the fly.

From that brief thought
1. Ganondorf. His high hax is dangerous, not to mention his physical worth. Tbh his magical might not be the greatest or most varied, but when a tank carries a pellet gun.. the threat is still there.
2. Voldermort. Outranks Balthazar for that single Shield buster spells potency and one or two hax keeping him above.
3. Balthazar. Third strongest spells, very dynamic.
4. Gandalf. Nothing compared to his novel self, who would be rocking up top.
5. Bavmorda. Too weak unless I missed some hax.

Ganon isn't immune to death.

Yet even the Master Sword fails to kill him. Interesting.

Go away little boy. You know nothing of what you speak. For all intents and purposes, Ganondorf can not die here.

He pushed back Sauron who is one of the strongest (if not the strongest) magic user amongst the Maia three or four times, while Gandalf was weakened (granted so was Sauron) but to act like Gandalf was owned by Sauron is simply not correct.

What is a Maia?

Movies only nerd.

Wasn't it Ganondorf who flooded the world in Windwaker?
