Can the Master Sword cut through Sauron's ring ?

As much as I love this sword. Its obvious it won't work. I'm strict believer in that mount Doom is the only thing that can destroy the ring. The sword would probably boost the wielder's resistance to its power though. Evil's Bane is what its called. It won't destroy it but I think it will negate its power when they are close.

Honestly, that's the very same thing as saying the sword is the absolute only means of killing Ganondorf. Both are no-limits fallacies, and they have to be set aside for the sake of honest discussion.

As for the discussion, I would have much more faith in the ring from the books, even if I haven't read them to their entirety. That said, I still wouldn't be able to say, and I'm more skeptical of the ring from the movies since it doesn't actually have much to speak of in regards of actual power.

Oh I've actually admitted to three things able to kill Gannondorf so far (in terms of weapons), Master Sword, The Cult (supernatural) and Chuck Norris' muscles (real world). And there is probably fifty things in Anime capable.

The power to corrupt and empower Sauron, is the general vibe I get form the movie version. Maybe as an evil destroying sword, the Master sword could beat it after many strikes. Like say there was a boos fight between Link and Sauron, the weak point being his ring. But I'm still very skeptical.

Magic. It doesn't have to make sense as it is magic. Magic kind of breaks the laws of physics, kiddo.
You just said that ity is. Meaning you know it is. Abd if you know it is, it must be a fact. And if it's a fact, there must be something to prove this

Unless of course you're just guessing. But you wouldn't do something like that, right?

Magic breaks down the rules of reality. You don't use evidence to support your claims such as the Toc.

I don't guess.

You just said it's the same as Knite to Supes, so prove it

It is. The properties of the ring is overcome hence where it was made.

So in that light, I can pretty much say anything magical can tank a nuke for your reasoning?

Either there's something in the verse comparable to a nuke, or there isn't.

I am saying I don't see pure force in that regard as destroying it.

You asked for my opinion and I gave it.

The magic still forces him to.

Because he allows it?

I didn't backpedal.

There's no shame in changing your mind after you get proven wrong.

Concession accepted.

Congratulations on knocking down that straw man you set up.

Also, this just in: Because Ganondorf is magical, he can tank nukes.

Are you backing an 'I don't know what it can or can't take' or a no-limits fallacy?

No, it is due to the fact he can still be overcome.

I was not proven wrong.

How so ?

He can't tank swords so I don't believe that is the case. Ring is far more durable than his flesh.

That is my opinion regarding the nukes. I don't think it can't be destroyed by other objects just not traditional nukes.

Not just nukes, the rung in general. You believe it can survive, but haven't said what it's even been able to take. All that's coming to mind are things like Gandalf and dragons. Though neither says it's above the power of the blade.

It is said that it can tank everything from that universe save mount doom lava.

That's why I've been asking what's so impressive about that? Just referenced Gandalf and dragons as the top things I know, so if you have greater say so.

And iirc Galdalf said it can't be destroyed with anything they have.

Elrond stated it is the only thing that can destroy it on middle earth.

What are the big hitters in the verse?

Sauron
Smaug
Gandalf
Saruman
Balrog

Movie Dalf and Balrog have no worthwhile feats, and Saruman is in their ballpark.

There's only Smaug, who as I've heard hasn't shown what he's got, and Sauron who isn't connected as they wouldn't list him as an option.

Defeating the Balrog and the mere portrayal of the Balrog being beyond that army of orcs demonstrates how formidable he is.

Who wouldn't list him as an option ?
