This. Hopefully they learn after how badly they ****ed up with Maul and had to go sticking him into loads of EU stuff with ****ing metal spider legs and all that crap.
"They" as in George Lucas?
hope people know he's not actually involved with the movie, Surprised folks haven't by now.

They as in any film makers who saw what a waste of a good character both Maul and Boba Fett were utilized in the past, and now have a chance to make good on a villain

I meant "They" as in "the people who are writing and making this upcoming Star Wars trilogy." Just because they aren't Lucas, doesn't mean they won't make mistakes, even the same mistakes as him. I was overjoyed when I heard that Lucas was barely involved in the making of the new trilogy, but that doesn't mean I'm just assuming that they'll do everything completely right and brilliantly. It may look great from the trailers, but I'm still anxious to see how well it turns out overall.

It would be a bad move to kill off Kylo after all of this in one film. I can't see it happening but my anger always brings me back to the phantom menace disaster.
Originally posted by ScribbleYeah, I don't think Kylo will be killed off but never say never. I hope I'm wrong and he remains through to the end of the trilogy. I don't want him the big bad of the trilogy though. I want that to be some ancient sith or some other bad guy hiding in the shadows. Still hoping Darth Plagueis eventually shows up.

Personally, rather than bringing in Plagueis or someone similar (I'm not a PT guy and I'd rather they stay away from the PT as much they can), I'd rather they just created something totally new, but draw on lots of different EU sources so that it still feels familiar to old fans. Kylo is brilliant as a 'dragon' type character — i.e. the villain who is the most physical danger to the protagonists — but yeah, they need some kind of arch villain behind it all. Maybe Kylo and the Knights of Ren won't even be allied with him/her/it (knowingly)?
Is there any info yet on whether the Knights of Ren and the First Order are allied yet?
Either way, I'm really liking the direction they're taking with it all. I told myself I wouldn't get too excited... but **** it, I don't care, I'm psyched.
I've always liked the idea of Plagueis since I've heard about him but am fine if it's just someone else as the big bad. I think it would be really interesting if the Knights of Ren opposed the big bad and his faction as well. I hope they don't steer entirely away from the pt's but I have a feeling they are.
Originally posted by QuincyIf they start blurring the lines a little bit between dark side/light side, good/evil and right/wrong I'll be a happy man. The EU was never afraid to tackle more introspective and complex ideas, as opposed to Lucas, who basically just told a classic story of good vs. evil. Which was great, but I think both Star Wars and its fan base has grown up a bit now and would probably enjoy a more nuanced story. Kylo Ren as a character totally suits that kind of change in the dynamic, they've already said that he'll be "complex" and "full of emotion", so he won't be a cookie-cutter villain to any degree just from that.
I like the idea of Kylo Ren as a wild card
