Yes I used notice many "Old EU" fans always thought EU was canon to the movies despite Lucas always stating it was distinct from his material.

You plenty of others,Abrams mystery box marketing really worked well for Star Trek:Into Darkness. It's one of the reasons the film underperformed at the box office.

Another reason was because it was a terrible movie.

I really liked it, but i'm sick of the final battle ending at Earth and the Enterprise being so easily beat. Hell the Enterprise did not even fire a ****ing shot in the film.
