What makes you think Cap will throw it directly at him? We have plenty of evidence of him throwing his shield away from an opponent and having it ricochet back and hit them.

Where is it ricochet in a open battle field in the desert?

Oh, looking back it says they fight in front of Troy? Then yeah, Cap won't throw his shield. He's not dumb. He won't throw away his only defense with no way of getting it back when the other guy has a spear and a sword.

At winter solider, if he would have dodged it there would have been nothing that would make it bounce back to him.

But he easily could have gotten it back. A quick jump down to street level and he could just go pick it up. Also WS was running away and had no visible weapons that he needed to be worried about.

Do you honestly think Steve would go, "This guy has a sword, shield, and a spear just like me. My best bet would be throwing away my shield and giving him an advantage."

Of course he does, Anyone he doesn't want to win automatically loses 125 IQ points and forgets most of their skills.

He's thrown it a Loki who had a weapon on top of which was ranged and it he didn't get it back.

But from this fight I'm not thinking he would just throw away his shield even if he did in the past.

Lets say they fought without shields, Achilles will win, lets say the fought with shields Achilles wins. Either way, with a sword and shield Achilles is unstoppable.

I like Captain a lot, but in this type of fight, its just not a feasible for Cap to win.

H2H fight sure, Caps wins.

Cap is better with the shield but Achilles is better with weapons that actually.............................kill.

Shields are made for defense and offense. People got killed by shields all the time. And Cap has killed multiple times with his shield, as well as dismembered people/Chitauri.

This isn't Sparta.

Who taught Captain to fight with a sword and what are Caps sword feats? And how is he killing Achilles with a shield?

No, this is Captain America. Who has cut off heads and arms of superhuman opponents with his shield.

I remember Achilles doing a good job of keeping his head on, and the shield is not cutting his head off. Lets get real here.

My mistake, I thought he'd cut someones head off. But he did cut off the metal arm of a chitauri without much effort. So my point is still valid. Shields were used to kill people as well as defend one from harm, and his has a razor sharp edge and can cut easily cut through tissue and bone.
