The Wii had a lot of kiddy/casual/gimmicky/silly/family/party games but it also had a tonne of great exclusives for the serious, mature gamer. Far more than the PS3 and the PS4, that's for sure.
The Wii U is still in its early days but it does have a number of great exclusives, like Super Mario 3D World, Mario Kart 8, Pikmin 3, New Super Mario Bros. U, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, and The Wonderful 101.

Nintendo didn't even reveal any Mario games today. Look at the new games:
Splatoon
Xenoblade
Bayonetta 2
Devil's Third
Star Fox (Which you people have been bitching about for YEARS)
Yoshi's Woolly World
And you can use the Pro Controller.

But I've always been curious as to exactly who is Nintendo's target audience since the new decade. Because with the exception of Pokemon, I've personally haven't seen or heard of any younglings getting excited over Nintendo product. Mild interest sure but no spectacular praise or raving.

Well they haven't made one for the Wii U yet so they have the opportunity to use the new hardware innovations, and really, why not release new entries for long running, successful series?
