X3: X-MEN UNDER "FIRE"
Considering Singer offered hints in the first movie as to what X2 was going to be about, I think it's a safe bet that the third installment will somehow revolve around a returning Jean Grey / Pheonix. This of course would be an excellent opportunity to introduce the Hellfire Club in some manner. (Emma Frost at her baddest..... hell yeah!)
I also believe that Beast is a very safe bet to appear in the next movie ala a supporting role seeing as the institute lost it's resident doctor (Jean) in X2. I believe that by including Beast in the next installment, he will make for a much needed dose of humor in what could be a pretty emotionally driven (somewhat dark) storyline.
I'd also like to see more of Collossus / Kitty Pryde and less of Bobby Drake / Rogue in the background of X3 however, with an eminant Gambit appearance looming I doubt Rogue is going anywhere any time soon. I do think that Gambit will somehow come into play (as a bad guy for hire at first who switches sides during the course of the plot) if they are indeed planning to spin off Wolverine.
On the topic of Wolverine... As much as I'd love to see Juggernaut and Logan battle it out on the big screen, a much better foe would be Omega Red. Crossing paths with yet another adamantium clad villian would be an excellent explanation as to why Wolverine would want to strike out on his own, thus creating another franchise.
I think it is critical that Ice Man made his departure in order to make room for someone else. The fact that the Bobby Drake character lasted as long as it did blows my mind. I'd also like to see less of Storm as well. Her character just doesn't seem to be working, at least for me.
I would love to Psylocke brought in as the X-Men's resident bad girl for the next installment however my gut teels me that the producers may feel that it could be too soon to feature another asian female considering Death Strike was in the last installment. Although I do feel that by combining key elements of the Psylocke character (past and present) this could be avoided. The concept would be that Psylocke's alter-ego, Betsy Braddock, is a very high profile person in this universe thus when she is forced to confront potential baddies she would prefer to wear a hooded cloak in order to conceal her identity. I do wish that the producers had saved Kelly Hu for the Psylocke character and went with Lucy Lu to play Deathstrike. Of course that didn't happen so Lucy Lu gets the nod.
If it were me X3 would look like this.... After the loss of on of the school's most beloved teachers (Jean), Prof X arranges for some much needed R & R for everyone. Storm & Nightcrawler (incognito) could take some of the kids on a field trip / as well as parents dropping by to pick up their kids resulting in a cameo here and there (Banshee, Dazzler, Magik) with certain individuals deciding to stay behind, namely Wolverine, Colossus, Rogue, & Bobby (possibly a 16 to 17 yr. old Kitty Pryde). Of course Beast (a favorite of all the kids) would show up just in time to see the children off. From here we introduce the DANGER ROOM where Beast, Professor X, & an somewhat more vicious Wolverine oversee the teenagers' training. (Insert holograms of secondary X-Men baddies here... Morlocks, Sentinels, The Brood).
Prof X then gets a transimission or a psychic pop from Cyclops, who has gone a brief sabatical, that something has happened at the sight where Jean had died. From there we introduce the HELLFIRE CLUB, a major $$$ contributor to Striker's experiments in the hopes of becoming the planet's soul mutants thus taking over the world, who after deciding to sift through the ruins of Striker's last experiment find something peculiar yet very powerful.
Highlights:
Early on Bobby takes a psychic hit from Emma Frost who converts Bobby into a more traditional comic book-esqe looking Ice Man... a transformation which incapacitates the young man thus he and the good Doctor, Hank McCoy, miss out on alot of action.
Colossus steps up to the plate in a big way that is until confronted an almost invulnerable Omega Red. Insert savage Wolverine here.
Gambit makes his debute as a bad guy and presents himself as more than a challenge to Cyclops when he manages to kidnap Rogue. The Ragin' Cajun decides to switches sides when it is revealed that the Hellfire Club is planning to destroy all mutants except themselves using the unknown force.
Psylocke makes her debute as a former student of the Xavier Institute who is now involved in corperate politics... thus she has had an eye on the Hellfire Club for some time. Has an epic battle with Emma Frost.
Fight Scene where Logan and Psylocke are fighting back to to back with blades a blazin' and sparks a flyin' (if ya' know what I mean!)
In ending, Jean is "believed" to be recovered but either in a comotosed or handi-capped state, either of which brings forth the semi-retirement of Cyclops (who decides to take care of Jean). Patch... errr... I mean Wolverine decides it is time to move on and pursue clues to his as revealed to him by former associate Omega Red. Psylocke decides to return to her livelihood and gives her new sparring partner, Logan, a ride to the air port. A returning Storm is handed the leadership role with the team as follows:
STORM, GAMBIT, COLOSSUS, ROGUE, NIGHTCRAWLER, BEAST, & BOBBY (CYCLOPS ON CALL)
Hmmmm...okay - several thingies here.
We were discussing the Phoenix Force's power, whilst inside the body (or cloned body) of Jean Grey. We do not see the Phoenix Force's power outwith a host, and so we have no clue of what it is capable of without one. It may be entirely incapacitated (hence why it would need a host) but then again it may be stronger (only transferring its essence into Jean in order to save her in the radiation exposure of the original crash, and in order to experience this world as a human).
Therefore i think it terribly unfair (never mind presumptious) to assume that the Phoenix's powers are not related to Jean's telepathy and telekinesis. That is what it harnesses - her abilities. People who have played host to the force (and maintained their powers afterwards) have been Jean and Rachel Summers, both psionically-gifted mutants.
Coincidence? I think perhaps not.
And, if you have been reading Morrison's run on New X-Men, it has been made clear that Jean has kept the powers of the Phoenix Force despite it's absence from her body. All her Phoenix-related powers are telekinesis/telepathy-related also, so your arguements that "the Phoenix's powers have nothing in common with [Jean's] own" is, near-enough bull. I dont like being dismissive, and i dont like sounding hostile. But im doing it here because you're doing it to me, so please do not mock me in your posts. I am merely stating FACT, not opinion, as you are.
Terribly sorry for having offended you.

erm, dont you think it's a little too mch story and characters to show and DEVELOP in kinda two and half hours? 😬
Whoa RealMcCoy, you aint wantin much are ya?
Lol
I love some of your ideas.
I have to say on the whole Psylocke thingy, i would LOVE to see her in it. I have a thought that is rather out-there, related to previous comicbook storylines but also somewhat detatched {hmmmmm...spellings a bit off methinks.}
I'd like to point out before i go ahead with this and you all laugh at me - Kelly Hu's contract extends to at least one more movie, but wether that will be in the Wolverine spin-off(s) i dunno (Deathstryke and Wolvie have a bit of history, but there was no hint of that at all in X2, probably coz she was under Stryker's control and he has the relative memory of a goldfish).
Anywayz, as you will probably know, being what appears to be a quite hardcore Betsy fan, Miss Braddock once had her essence swapped into the body of Ravanche, a Japanese ninja woman. It may be possible that they have Kelly Hu's body taken over by Betsy's essence.
Rather stupid idea actually, and not too sure id be happy if it did happen that way, but you never know. Deathstryke WAS a rather nifty fighter, but then of course you have the fact that Betsy would likely have those damn claws and little or no psi-capabilities.
D'ya know sumthin, forget i started speaking 😖
Stupid idea - NEXT!
