Gotta say: I wasn't even planning on reading this event at first--but the more teasers I see, the more excited I get about it... Especially knowing that the 616 and Ultimate Earths are about to wage all-out war. 👆
The best part, though, is that Hickman is writing this. He is one of the few writers who actually seems to respect/appreciate characters from the Ultimate universe--he tends to write them at a pretty high level(particularly Reed.) Tack on Ribic's boner-inducing artwork, and this really should be awesome. 👆
i always feel like the wet blanket. 🙁 NA 33 was...pretty good imo. i think it did clear up a lot. i do NOT think this story needed to be spread out over, what is it now, nearly THREE years! pretty absurd, and it's very difficult to gather all the subtle clues/hints that were established and tied together over 3 years and multiple books. i will give an enormous amount fo credit to hickman's focus, but a tighter narrative would have allowed for this conclusion to have had a much great impact on me. it also seems that the whole thing--the entirety of the incursion storyline--was fabricated to do nothing more than give a reason for the ult to battle 616. that seems like a lot of trouble to go through for that payoff....
and here's a bit of a tricksier question: we all know what of stories are spin offs of the 616 universe. paths not taken, as the watcher has said many times in the past. if that's true, then more and more alternate earths/universes should be forming all the time, no? or are we to simply accept the fact that there can never again be a what of story?? if so, that makes me all weepy inside my heart... 🙁
Originally posted by leonidasYeah, the incursion storyline honestly could have been finished in 20 issues, max... Especially given that a.) time travel was a HUGE component of the story, and b.) Doom's bomb could have been(and was) used as a plot-device to wipe out as many remaining universes as needed.

This may have very well been the best opening issue that I have ever read. It was, imo, perfect. 👆
Definitely. Was reading it and was really pleased with it. And it ended on one of the most excruciating (in a good way) cliffhangers.
Also Reed again proved amazingly clever with his raft altering (and stealing) and his planning from the beginning. A good few feats there.
Originally posted by One_Angry_ScotI like how Maker, despite having mapped the entirety of the multiverse and personally visiting 616 earth himself, still referred to all of its inhabitants as "primitive people", lol. Shows you how far beyond them he is from an evolutionary standpoint. 👆

Makes me wonder even more what he's gonna be up to in Secret Wars. I mean I can't see him being reduced to the point of him fighting a resistance. Perhaps he knows even more than we're being told about things going on and he contests control of Battleworld.
I just think the way he's been portrayed I can't see him doing anything but aiming for the top in Secret Wars.
