I don’t think Persephone is the “mother” of the Matrix. It sounds more reasonable to assume the Oracle is. That the Architect rolls his eyes, may simply be the title humans have given the physic program.
All we know about Persephone is that she is a program. And around as old as the Merovingian, since they arrived “here” at the same time. Things are seldom what they seem, in M2 al she seems to to is play the role of the dark siren-seductress, an obstacle to get to the Keymaker. But she’s in the Revolutions trailer… so…

Trinity and Morpheus do not change identity in the matrix or out of the matrix. They just change apparel if you like. And the only reason Smith does not look like smith in the real world, is because he infects Bane’s Matrix-avatar, but Bane himself is at that time plugged into the Matrix from some ship at broadcast level. That does not go to prove he is the real one.
And how did Cypher go meet Smith in M1? In the scene before that Neo almost scares the “bejezuz” out of Cypher, who quickly switches of a lot of screens. He’s probably been programming a preset start and end visit to the Matrix while everyone was a sleep and he took the night shift.
I believe that Persephone is the mother of the matrix. The architect said it was an intuitive program made to explore the human psyche. Psyche is greek for mind. That makes you wonder, how did Persephone know that Neo and Trinity were in love? Maybe because her entire meaning of existance was to understand the human mind, and she could therefore understand that connection between Neo and Trinity. This happens in the video game as well. Before she kisses Niobe, she says, you love a man. what is his name? Niobe: Jason. Perseph: No that's not him.
How does she know who loves who?
The answer, she knows because she is the mother, she knows human psyche the best a machine ever could.
But the Oracle also knows about love, at least enough to be able to predict that Trinity would fall in love with the One (or conversely, she makes sure the One will know love).
In Greek myth Persphone is the daughter of Zeus, the übergod and Demeter, mother nature, she becomes the wife of Hades, the lord of the underworld, after he goes to Zeus to ask for permission to marry Persephone. Zeus kinda says “yes” between the lines, knowing Demeter would not want her daughter married to the lord of the undeworld, so Hades abducted Persephone. After much protest, Persephone came to love the cold blooded king of the underworld.
So if the Wachowski Brothers stick to the myths, The Oracle is the mother and the Architect is the father. Persephone is the “daughter”, a program they created in unison, and the Merovingian may be far more dangerous than the Oracle tells us. Read up on the myth. The Merovingians were a dynasty of Frankish kings who ruled a (frequently fluctuating) area in parts of present-day France and Germany from the 5th to the 8th century AD. And from sometime in the 18th century you can find a Merovingian Order of the Holy Grail. A coincidence when we discuss Matrix? Hardly 😄
By now the names of the characters seem to indicate what we’re dealing with. E.g. Morpheus was the god of dreams in Greek mythology.

A new question: Who were the previous Ones? Were they exactly like Neo, or someone else? We know the present loop of the Matrix is around 100 years old, so the previous One is not alive, but was he “neo” so to speak?
I think when his code got mixed with agent smiths he could stop them because agents program sents.He took it to real world like that guy has agent smiths brain inside him. But i think it was different because he didnt know there code mixed.Just like jumping real far in the matrix.You cant do it until you realize it.And that was the first time he encountered the machines after smith told him that.
If the real world is actually the matrix, why can't the agent's enter the real world. I know agent smith has posessed that guy in reloaded, but generally they can't enter it. That would also mean that the agent's could take over Neo, like when they are killed and have to possess a new host body. This would kill neo, and their problems would be over. 🤘
Also, has anyone noticed that in the teaser trailer for matrix 2 and 3, a voice says 'you are ready to die for this man?' and trinity replies'youd better bel;ieve it'. does this not suggest to you that neo could possibly get captured in revolutions. i don't recall hearing this line in reloaded. let me hear your thoughts!
maybe, cos neo is the one and everything, his mind is more open so he gets trapped places easily. like, ppl says that when he killed agent smith some of him rubbed onto smith or vice versa, but maybe it just linked them a bit. and then cos he loves trinity hes linked to her, and to the matrix itself. so that explains some of his power and stuff.
