That's something else entirely and depends on how audiences react to the quality of the film. Point is though WB obviously did a good job marketing this and getting interest in it for it to get such a large Opening with an unknown name like Suicide Squad.

It's not like BvS where the name sells it.

oh okay

Downhill from here.

I won;t be at all surprised if it does...

Don't forget that most of the lineup and cast isn't part of the Bat universe. They had to show the Joker, to show Harley's origin. Batman wasn't needed, I guess, but he was hardly in the movie.

When I think Bat universe, I think the story is heavily Batman related, which it wasn't. The whole mission was to take down

Spoiler:
Enchantress

And she isn't Batman related.

True it wasn't a pure Batman spin off. It was its own property as well, and pulled bits from a wide portion of the DC Universe.

Still there was definite Batman connections ingrained in there which I think is a good thing. Building Batman in multiple films prior to Justice League is a good move, given he's the only one of the Trinity without a Solo film prior to Justice League.

Agreed, it has great potential

If they have a sequel, I'd want

Deathstroke the Terminator as the villain.

The reason there was a huge drop from Friday to Saturday is because of all the people that already had bought their presale tickets months/weeks ago.

SS projections

Suicide Squad projections:

Weekend 2: 42.2M (-68.8%) cum 220.9M

Weekend 3: 16.4M (-61.1%) cum 253.0M

Weekend 4: 9.3M (-43.1%) cum 268.6M

Weekend 5 (3-Day): 6.8M (-27.4%)

Weekend 5 (4-Day): 8.7M (-6.6%) cum 280.5M

Weekend 6: 2.7M (-50.4%) cum 285.3M

Weekend 7: 1.6M (-38.4%) cum 288M

DOM: 290.064M (2.147x)

WW: 672.612M (56.9% foreign total)

Pretty decent numbers. Would have made more, if it was released in China/better situation with Mexico. Could have made 750 or above.

What happened to Mexico?

672 million without China is a very longshot if you ask me. I'm thinking like 550 when it's all said and done.

Saw it. Not terrible not good. Best actor in the film and part was Will Smith by far. Joker and Batman do not stand out whatsoever. They bring nothing to the parts to make the role their own. This was the best DC film of their combined cinematic universe to date. No rewatchability factor whatsoever. Action was meh and repetitive. The villain was as plain as it gets.

Ps. I can see why D. Thor loved this because he always favors the repetitive action the dcu tends to emphasize.

Mexico isn't showing this either...

also if this only makes les than $700 million WB is in trouble...

The Batman and the Joker/Harley scenes were the highlights for me. The best scene being the one with the 3 of them.
Joker was pure shit. 🙂

If it gets around 650 that should warrant some profit, and that's not including product placement or merchandise.

I saw it today and actually liked it. I was expecting joker to be wareing girls jeans and tennies, but to my happiness it did not happen. The acting was pretty good and most the characters were likeable. Did not care for the scene where the FBI agents were murdered by their own superiors. My girl friend has family in the force, military and the FBI and I thought it was pretty classless myself.

Shit I missed half the movie due to my girlfriend walking out when they gunned down the FBI agents.

Other then that it was a solid 7.5/10

Ok movie, not great. Joker was beyond cringey, it was a little surprising, Leto being such a celebrated actor did a pretty bad job with Joker IMO. I thought he looked pretty bad in the trailers, but I actually cringed 99% of the time he was on screen. 90's edge lord personified.

I saw it. I did like it. Not the best Comic Book Movie of all time. Better then BVS by a LONG SHOT tho. Leto was a BORING Joker. And Harley got on my Nerves. Played up to much to the GIRL Power Crap. But yes. I liked this movie. Surprised as many of the Squaders survived as they did. Would most definatly buy the soundtrack too.

So you reckon the breaking even point is still over $600mill? Looks like they were banking on this grossing over $700mill.

Doubt there's much product placement and merchandise profit to get from this. It's not close to as consumer friendly as the names Batman and Superrman.

I don't think it's that much until I see an actual number that's confirmed.

Harley and Joker will see well in merchandise. MOS made 300 M profit and BVS did 278 or so when it's all said and done. SS should do big numbers like those, IMO.
