Oh lord, the plot thickens. They'll need to release an extended cut (or at least an ass-load of deleted scenes) or else there's going to be mass outrage toward Warner. I think as long as they release an extended version on blu-ray then I'm sure they won't have as much trouble with a lawsuit, because films often include footage in the trailer that doesn't make the theatrical cut. That's nothing new (then again, I don't know how extensive the cut Joker scenes are). And it's very common now for films to get extended home video releases. But it is pretty shifty of the studio to tease the most iconic character so much and then not deliver in the final cut. I've heard from several reviewers that the Joker's barely in the movie. That's just going to alienate fans and cause disappointment, which is obviously not in the studio's best interest.

These days I tend to wait for the Extended Version on Blu-Ray then pay $18-$22 for a theatre release knowing it will be heavily edited.
Plus all the bonus features makes it more value for money than a movie ticket.

Got this from another forum:

Apparently a China release is still in the cards as WB are editing the movie so that it'll bypass their regulations. According to some the movie is still being advertised there.

good article....

So why did RT give Spider-Man 3 a score of 60%+. That's a score BvS and SS would die for. You really think Spider-Man 3 was a better film that BvS or SS? I can bring up other examples as well.

So It's not a conspiracy theory, or even a MCU vs DCEU thing. But there's clearly a bias there towards franchises critics have already decided they like, and ones which haven't won them over yet. You can argue it's the DCEU's own fault for not winning over critics for their franchise, but critics are supposed to be bias free and go into each film giving it an equal chance.

And I don't believe critics are going into each film completely objective, and I do believe SS would have a much higher score on RT if the exact same film was made by Marvel studios.

I've made my point regarding this before but I'll come at a differentangle this time.

SM3 came at a different time, 2007, before the rise of Marvel Studios and the Dark Knight. The only good superheroes movies to compare to were Batman Begins and SM2. WB's cinematic universe comes during a time when Marvel has consistently made good superhero films. Even without that, Nolan's TDK and TDKR have set a bar for super hero movies. SM3 had the luxury coming before this onslaught of good superhero movie era so it got lucky with it's RT rating.

With that said, BvSis spinoff of a MOS which was already hated by critics and certain fans. BvS was worse and incoherent mess compared to MOS; is there any surprise as to why it scored lower than MOS's RT score? Superman barely spoke in BvS and Batman mowed down criminals. The story barely explained scenes like the parademons and the Flash popping out of a portal to spout gibberish to Batman. Being that this movie is the first time Batman appears on screen since Nolan's trilogy, it shouldn't be a surprise him being a hypocrite and psycho would not sit well with critics. SM3 came after SM2, one of the best superhero movies ever, it came in with goodwill from SM2.

WB is making dumpster fire movies that critics hate; make good movies and they'll rave about it like Nolan's series.

This should end up around 305-310 domestic.

I don't think so. I'm going with 275 domestic and 300 worldwide.

What is your prediction for 2nd weekend? I'm saying 45 million.

It will get around 42 M second Weekend. It's already on pace to do 300 domestic. If it continues to get good holds (like Mon-wed), it has a shot at passing GOTG domestic.

If it beats Guardians that's huge but a very, very unlikely situation.

However it's making good bank worldwide so far and it has some big markets to open up in yet like Italy, Germany, and Japan.

Golgo only cares about the box office. Quality be damned he just cares about the profits other men will make. What an idiot.

It has a chance to out gross MOS, which made more than most MCU movies at the time. 👆

Marvel has made more at the box office so even according to Golgo marvel is kicking their asses. Makes more money and is more critically acclaimed.

So I just watched this... It wasn't that bad. I can see why it's polarising, but there's as much to like as there is to dislike. It's the best of the DCEU films, and I really don't think it gets all of the flak it's been getting.

Making money off of the popularity of characters name alone will only last so long. I dont know how long audiences will continue eating up bad film after bad film.
Transformers still makes money though so this strategy is working for them at least.

Most everyone that I saw it with loved it, so the WOM isn't bad at all. Only one friend said it was merely, "ok".

I'm surprised that anyone could love it while still being a reader of the comics, tbh.

Nobody I know reads comics. What is the percentage of the general audience that reads comics? Less than 1 percent?

Not sure how that's relevant to whether it's a good adaptation or not.

I thought the characters were well done.

Some were at times, and other times they weren't imo.

Deadshot was fine. Boomerang, Croc, Katana, Flagg etc were good too. Waller also.

Harley went from near perfect to not recognisable at all at times, and imo they need to seriously shift her around for the next film. As good as she was at times, the negatives were equally glaring.

Joker... I really hope Affleck sorts him out.
