I can bring up other examples as well.So It's not a conspiracy theory, or even a MCU vs DCEU thing. But there's clearly a bias there towards franchises critics have already decided they like, and ones which haven't won them over yet. You can argue it's the DCEU's own fault for not winning over critics for their franchise, but critics are supposed to be bias free and go into each film giving it an equal chance.
And I don't believe critics are going into each film completely objective, and I do believe SS would have a much higher score on RT if the exact same film was made by Marvel studios.
I've made my point regarding this before but I'll come at a differentangle this time.
SM3 came at a different time, 2007, before the rise of Marvel Studios and the Dark Knight. The only good superheroes movies to compare to were Batman Begins and SM2. WB's cinematic universe comes during a time when Marvel has consistently made good superhero films. Even without that, Nolan's TDK and TDKR have set a bar for super hero movies. SM3 had the luxury coming before this onslaught of good superhero movie era so it got lucky with it's RT rating.
With that said, BvSis spinoff of a MOS which was already hated by critics and certain fans. BvS was worse and incoherent mess compared to MOS; is there any surprise as to why it scored lower than MOS's RT score? Superman barely spoke in BvS and Batman mowed down criminals. The story barely explained scenes like the parademons and the Flash popping out of a portal to spout gibberish to Batman. Being that this movie is the first time Batman appears on screen since Nolan's trilogy, it shouldn't be a surprise him being a hypocrite and psycho would not sit well with critics. SM3 came after SM2, one of the best superhero movies ever, it came in with goodwill from SM2.
WB is making dumpster fire movies that critics hate; make good movies and they'll rave about it like Nolan's series.
