Civil War's domestic OW was 179million. It's total domestic gross was 407million. That's a multiplier of 407/179= 2.27.

BvS's domestic OW was 166milion. It's total domestic gross was $330million. That's a multiplier of 330/166= 1.99.

Clearly CW had the superior legs, but neither exactly had great legs. That said you're right that no studio will be complaining when their film grosses $1billion+. Not even a Star Wars film.

CW also dropped 74% from F to F.

That's F to F. CW dropped 74%. Almost as bad.

being harsh must be done...

when I film falls 50% to 60% in its 2nd week, that is normal and the standard.. when a film falls upwards to 69% like people's precious Bats V Supes then that is a problem...

lmao at CW having weak legs espeically since it made over $1 billion dollars.. heck tell me do you see Disney/Marvel firing people because Civil War didn;t make any money??? tell me , is Disney/Marvel panicking since Civi War is a huge major success???

Not when it's unwarranted, imo. You can point out a movie's failings without falling in to the "if it's not great, it's shit" trap.

saw the movie again for the 2nd time today, man guys sorry you didn't like it but everyone I know really liked it including me.

That's really neat, man!

B-b-but that's a Marvel movie so that's ok! 😇

You guys do realise that a 79% drop is worse than 74% right?

Also the higher the figures the harder it is to keep the same % hold for the next weekend.

No shit Sherlock. But it's not that big considering the negativity the DC films have to overcome.

Thanks for pointing out the obvious. Either way, SS is still a win and will be profitable in the long run. 750 to break even. 😂

Let's hope WB don't get too cocky about it; SS at best is a fixer-upper.

I will never have hope for another DC movie.

Golgo is guilty, (ra)punish him.

This other poster brings up a good point on CW legs:

No.

The legs were what they are because of 2 main factors..... the biggest factor is that with each Marvel Universe movie, the general audience is going to get more limited. You had to see a minimum of 5 movies to even have a clue what was happening in Civil War. That doesn't lead to nearly the casual walk up business no matter how good the movie is. It could be a fantastic movie (and it was), but some 50 year old guy and his wife who have only watched a couple Marvel movies or none at all are never going to buy a ticket. You aren't going to get that person with a few hours open on a Tuesday night and watches 10 movies a year to buy a ticket.

Second factor was that it was the least family friendly and most dour Marvel movie yet. The ending doesn't really lead to repeat theater viewings. There was plenty of civil war parts and the airport scene was praised.

Does anyone else like how DC finally made a decent movie, yet all Zack cares about is how much money it's making?

Good BO leads to sequels and possible spin offs. If you don't want to read about the BO, then don't read it, nobody is forcing you.

If you count in just the money made on Fridays and not the totals which include the Thursday previews there is only a 2% difference in the change from Friday to Friday. CW made about 50 million on it's first Friday and Squad made about 44 million.

I don't know why the studios feel they need to add the Thursday previews in the Friday totals.

Well it's critical to make bank for the future of the franchise.

That only matters if the spin-offs are good, though. If they put out shit and it makes money, we'll just get more shit.

Studios don't decide weather to make a sequel just because the critics like it.
