XXIII. STARK RESPECT

Beyond the warrior encased in armor, is a nearly-unrivaled genius. And Stark's reputation as a genius is well-earned. The media considers him "as an inventor whose genius rivaled that of Edison, Marconi and Richards." He's also won at least one Nobel Peace Prize. From Iron Man #243 and Incredible Hulk vol.2 #71:

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkRespect30SecretAvengersv210.jpg

Speaking of Richards, Mr. Fantastic's first real look at Iron Man's armor elicits this response, "I'm still impressed with the incredible sophistication of this armor!" From Secret Wars #8:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Iron%20Man/IronManRespect11SecretWars8.jpg

Bruce Banner owes his current life approach to Stark's genius: "I'm told the Hulk was a valuable asset in the final battle. Got in some good blows, distracted the enemy so a smart man could engineer a solution. Do you know who that smart man was? TONY STARK!" From Indestructible Hulk #1:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Iron%20Man/StarkRespect28IndestructibleHulk1.jpg

The Black Panther reminds the Avengers, "Now, as much as I place faith in the collective expertise of Wakanda's best and brightest scientists, technicians and tacticians -- without more time, even their intellect combined with my own may not be up to the task. For we are dealing with Anthony Stark, my friends. And insane though he may become, Stark is still -- a consummate genius." From Avengers #394:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Iron%20Man/StarkRespect16Avengers394.jpg

When Hank Pym discovered Iron Man's identity, he was shocked. "The billionaire genius. The modern renaissance man. Next to him... I was less than nothing. And far from the smartest man in the room." From Mighty Avengers # 21:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Iron%20Man/StarkRespect23MightyAvengers21.jpg

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Iron%20Man/StarkRespect14WarMachine1.jpg

XXIII. STARK RESPECT (cont'd)

Villains are equally wary/covetous of his consummate genius. The Melter kidnapped Stark once; "Only your genius can make a smaller, transistorized version of my over-sized melting gun -- !" From Tales of Suspense #90:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Iron%20Man/StarkRespect04TOS90.jpg

The villainous Controller kidnaps Stark for the same reason, "Through your mastery of micro-circuits, all the functions of my Absorbatron will be incorporated into the helmet!" From Iron Man #28:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Iron%20Man/StarkRespect07IM28.jpg

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Iron%20Man/StarkRespect02.jpg

Other genius super-villains have admitted Stark's intellectual superiority. Justin Hammer was furiously stymied by Stark's designs, "Curse you, Stark -- you were a genius, this armor is incredible! Ingenious application of available micro-processor circuitry and new sensor pod designs and software I can't even identify." From Marvel Super-Heroes Special #13:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Iron%20Man/StarkRespect13MarvelSuper-HeroesSpecial13.jpg

Stuart Clarke -- former supervillain genius, Rampage, and most recently an accomplice of the Punisher -- is flabbergasted, "H-he's burning out the plasma cannon and the ion pulse gun! I spent years developing them! How -- ?!" His weaponer employer, Sunset Bain, berates him, "Because, Mister Clarke, his armor was created by Tony Stark! I should have known your designs were no match for his!" From Iron Man vol.3 #20:

Even the highly advanced Rigelians describe him as "this planet's greatest weapons designer," from Iron Man vol.5 #29:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Iron%20Man/StarkRespect31IMv529.jpg

XXIV. STARK INTELLIGENCE

As a futurist, Stark foresaw the events of Civil War before they ever happened. "The way my mind works -- the way Reed's mind works -- we can intuit the future. That's why we're such successful inventors. We know what people will need before people even know they're going to need it. And now I'm going to tell you the future." From New Avengers: Illuminati #1:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkIntelligence11NAIlluminati1.jpg

Stark's genius may start from his futurist qualities, but he is first and foremost, an engineering savant. That much should be obvious as he built the Mark I armor in a cave literally with a box of scraps. Here, with a modestly-equipped laboratory, he builds the Mark II armor in a single night. From Tales of Suspense #43:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkIntelligence01TOS43.jpg

Infected by Skrull viruses inspired by Ultron technology, Stark's Extremis was completely compromised and shut down. He asks Carol to drop him off at the Savage Land's mutates' abandoned base so he can rebuild from scratch. From Secret Invasion #2:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkIntelligence13SecretInvasion2.jpg

Stark's engineering genius wasn't limited to Starktech. Here, abandoned by Doom in Hell, Stark had to cannibalize a demonic cyber-doppelganger of Howard Stark to construct missing circuit components to Doom's time platform technology. In a matter of minutes, while being attacked by Mephisto's hordes, he succeeds. From Iron Man: Legacy of Doom #2:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkIntelligence14LegacyofDoom2.jpg
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkIntelligence15.jpg

While being attacked by Arcade's murderous drones in his civilian guise, Stark managed to disable, reprogram and upgrade the drone. From Thing #3:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkIntelligence10Thing3.jpg

For years, the original Vision lay in disarray after being destroyed by Ultron and She-Hulk. "He is the most advanced macrotech-organism that exists on the planet. It was hard, really hard. One of my biggest challenges. But I just kept trying. I just didn't say anything because I didn't want to get anyone's hopes up. A week ago, I hit the right button or lever or something because he started to heal himself. From Avengers vol.4 #19:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkIntelligence19Avengersv419.jpg

Detained and under careful watch of guards, Stark proposes a method of broadcasting a distress signal, "What if you disguised it -- rigged it so it's a functioning part of the assembly, using only components that belong there -- but it also sends out a sub-etheric signal?" Fellow inmate, Nigel Dabuta, scoffs, "To design something like that in your head? To build it under the eyes of the guards? Do not be ludicrous, my friend." Stark already built it. From Iron Man vol.3 #6:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkIntelligence09IMv36.jpg

Stark was also an expert in computer engineering. When Stane took over Stark International, he and a small group of his friends and collaborators formed a start-up company. Their first contract was to design video game circuits in a month. With pencil and paper and under five minutes, Stark designed the entire thing. From Iron Man #188:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkIntelligence04IM188.jpg

Trapped in a paralyzed body with malfunctioning cybernetic nervous system, Stark begins the arduous process of mentally reprogramming his entire biology. In a feat of cybernetic engineering, Stark literally rewrote his own biological operating system from the ground up, "Millions of lines of code. Every one of which has to be perfect. There's no room for mistakes. No 'abort/retry' option. Any error could be a 'fatal error.'" From Iron Man #290:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkIntelligence06IM290.jpg

His rewrite was arguably too good. He gave himself hyper-senses, "I'm experiencing alterations in perception. Everything is too sharp, too clear. Sights, sounds, textures, are overwhelming. . . . I know things no man has ever known. The precise velocity of the blood rushing though my circulatory system. The exact volume of air in my lungs, from one second to the next. I could tell you how many individual hairs there are on my body. Or the total electrical charge of the neurons in my brain." From Iron Man #290:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkIntelligence07.jpg

During the events of Long Way Down, Stark's life, career, and superhero persona was being methodically torn apart. With a little forensic engineering of just two bits of Dreadnought scrap, he intuits who is responsible: Ezekiel Stane and Mandarin. From Invincible Iron Man #513:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkIntelligence20IIM513.jpg

That forensic engineering allows him to rewire a junk prototype cellphone into a virtual reality device that, combined with street-view navigation photos and GPS data, allows him to recall repressed memories a decade old. From Original Sin: Hulk vs. Iron Man #3:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkIntelligence27OSHvIM3.jpg

Unfortunately in Time Runs Out, the genius and scope of Stark's weapons engineering is revealed to the Illuminati. "Together, Tony and I enacted several contingency plans when we first learned of what we were facing. He built weapons -- and he built them well. . . . [t]he weapons files appear to be... robust. I'm counting six hundred and fifty-three separate designs." From New Avengers vol.3 #25:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkIntelligence30NewAvengersv525.jpg

XXIV. STARK INTELLIGENCE (cont'd)

With the latest Stark-Rand repulsor node installed into his chest, he begins pumping more power to his brain. "To get smarter, we needed more power. To get more power, we needed to get smarter. For all intents and purposes, I've got a man-made star in my chest, Reed. Guess how much juice I'm pumping into my head these days...?" Reed's response after some thought, "Oh my." From Invincible Iron Man #25:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkIntelligence17IIM25.jpg

So what has he done with this upgraded intelligence? Just about anything. In Iron Man: Fatal Frontier, Stark suffers from hallucinations brought on by Phlogistone exposure. But that doesn't stop him from going all Macguyver ^ 2. Here, he uses a rubber mat and toilet seat pin to disable and reprogram two sentry robots to serve as a mobile bomb and a mounted wrist blaster. He then uses one of its wifi unit to hack into Endotherm's armor... which still required him to guess a 9-digit password, which he does... purely on intuition. From Iron Man: Fatal Frontier #12:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkIntelligence21FatalFrontier12.jpg
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkIntelligence22.jpg
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkIntelligence23.jpg
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkIntelligence24.jpg
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkIntelligence25.jpg
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkIntelligence26.jpg

In a rather gonzo showcase of improvisational mathematics, Stark calculates the next martial arts strike of the Mandarin and with geometry and finds the perfect angle with which to parry his strike, sending his foe into unconsciousness. From Tales of Suspense #50:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkIntelligence02TOS50.jpg

Stark also shows a shocking aptitude for for science fields pioneered by others. Within a few minutes of studying a device he intuits that Doom's time platform is malfunctioning and can only go backward in time. From West Coast Avengers #18:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkIntelligence05WCA18.jpg

Having recently lost his ability to become a giant-sized Goliath, Hank Pym worked tirelessly to restore his growth powers. But to no avail. However, in a few hours, Stark completely stabilized Giant Man's powers. From Avengers #51:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkIntelligence03Avengers51.jpg

A young, drunk Stark tinkers and discovers flaws in the prototype gamma bomb that Bruce Banner built. Not only does he reduce its destructive yield, but he intuits its catastrophic effects on biomatter. He tries to warn Banner, but his warnings go unheeded. From Original Sin: Hulk vs. Iron Man #4:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkIntelligence28OSHvIM4.jpg
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkIntelligence29.jpg

The Illuminati access Stark's encrypted files but note that Amadeus Cho's sacrifice in downloading the files directly was essential, "Honestly, if Cho hadn't stuck around to the very end, this wouldn't have worked -- Stark's encryption is simply too well done." From New Avengers vol.3 #25:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkIntelligence31.jpg

Stark also happens to be a grandmaster chess player. Wilson Fisk was one of his first victims. From Civil War: War Crimes #1:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkIntelligence12CWWarCrimes1.jpg

Reed Richards, a chess enthusiast since childhood, was another. This time during a set of six or more simultaneous chess matches, Tony puts Reed in check everywhere, at at the same time. From Invincible Iron Man #5:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkIntelligence16IIM5.jpg

A younger Tony Stark fiddles with a Rubik's Cube, "You know there's a god number for these things? Minimum of moves that'll solve any configuration? Twenty. You can solve any cube with just twenty moves." He does. From Invincible Iron Man #501:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkIntelligence18IIM501.jpg

XXV. STARK INVENTIONS

STARK MICRO-TRANSISTORS

Tony Stark's introduction to the Marvel Universe began with the inventor showcasing the fruits of his genius to the U.S. military: micro-transistors. The transistors worked to power any device and increase their power a thousandfold. Here, a small magnet pulls a steel door vault apart. From Tales of Suspense #39 and retold in Iron Man #1, 47 and 122:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkMicroTransistors01TOS39.jpg
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkMicroTransistors08IM1.jpg
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkMicroTransistors09IM47.jpg
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkMicroTransistors10IM122.jpg

The micro-transistors had endless applications. Powerful weapons could now be miniaturized, like these compact mortars that were no larger than flashlights. From Tales of Suspense #39:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkMicroTransistors02-CompactMortars.jpg

Remember those jet skates? Stark outfitted the military with micro-transistor powered jet skates that could race them around at 60 mph. From Tales of Suspense #40:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkMicroTransistors03-SkateEnginesTOS40.jpg

Micro-transistor powered fluoroscopes essentially provide him x-ray vision that can penetrate thick walls. From Tales of Suspense #44:

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkMicroTransistors07-FoxHoleDiggersAvengers12.jpg

STARK ELECTROMAGNETICS

Ultimately, the transistorized might of Iron Man gave way to a new focus for Iron Man's powers: electromagnetics. At first, transistorized magnets were among the most powerful weapons in his arsenal. Among other things, they pull apart a robot into pieces. From Tales of Suspense #40 and 49:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkElectromagnetics01-SuperMagnetsTOS40.jpg
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkElectromagnetics02-SuperMagnetsTOS49.jpg

Here, he attaches an EM field generator onto Ultimo's back and draws "several hundred million volts" down on him to shut him down in Iron Man #300:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkElectromagnetics05-EMFieldGeneratorIM300.jpg

The repulsor nodes are the pinnacle of Stark technology. They don't just serve as a battery source, they also integrate themselves into a bearer's biology. Stark explains to Pepper, "The repulsomagnetic tech in your chest is upping your metabolism. Your core strength, reaction time, reflexes... even our intelligence is leaping up 25 to 30 I.Q. points." From Invincible Iron Man #8:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkElectromagnetics06-RepulsorNodeIIM8.jpg

The repulsor nodes are also powerful electromagnets that can tear apart bullets in mid-flight without any Iron Man armor. From Invincible Iron Man #19:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkElectromagnetics07-RepulsorNodeIIM19.jpg

That doesn't stop him from upgrading his super magnet arsenal. Here, he releases a super magnet swarm of two million neodymium high-grade magnets capable of staggering Magneto. From AvX Vs. #1:

XXV. STARK INVENTIONS (cont'd)

STARK MUNITIONS

Tony Stark started out as a weapons manufacturer who eventually grew a conscience. But the weapons he did invent were numerous and powerful. Revolutionary burp guns fired miniaturized artillery shells "that can be fired at the rate of 1000 bullets a minute." From Tales of Suspense #41:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkMunitions03-BurpGunsTOS41.jpg

Guided missiles? How about guided bullets? Stark supplied the U.S. military with tracer shells that could bear down on even a soaring Iron Man. From Tales of Suspense #92:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkMunitions16-TracerShellsTOS92.jpg

Stark also outfitted super-villain prison guards with Hulk-killer shells ammunition. From Fear Itself #7.3:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkMunitions42-HulkKillerShellsFearItself73.jpg

As mentioned earlier, he created compact mortars no larger than flashlights, yet no less powerful. From Tales of Suspense #39:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkMunitions01-CompactMortarsTOS39.jpg

Stark designed a fragmentation grenade launcher which fired particles of condensed napalm-like gel. From Iron Man #73:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkMunitions19-FragmentationGrenadeLauncherIM73.jpg

A landmine of Stark's design was the Stark sentinel mine. These munitions famously wounded Stark in the retelling of his origin in Iron Man vol.4 #1:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkMunitions30-StarkSentinelMineIMv41.jpg

One of Stark's first commissions for the Air Force was the seedpod bomb. These were bomblets that "dispensed hundreds of 'smart' micromunitions from a mother bomb casing . . . [with] the explosive force of three sticks of dynamite." From Iron Man vol.4 #1:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkMunitions29-SeedpodMineIMv41.jpg

He's even developed non-concussive explosives. From Avengers Annual vol.5 #1:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkMunitions46-Non-ConcussiveExplosivesAvengersAnnualv51.jpg

The oddly named brainosaur was a "specially constructed missile [with] one purpose . . . to dock next to any enemy missile and to disarm it in orbit!" From Strange Tales #139:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkMunitions07-Braino-saurStrangeTales139.jpg

The mangler missile was the successor to the brainosaur device, in that it also was launched and could attach itself to rockets and commandeer/disable them in mid-flight. From Tales of Suspense #65:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkMunitions13-ManglerMissileTOS65.jpg

Stark's gungnir missiles were scramjet-propelled hypersonic air-to-air missiles that could travel twice as fast as rifle bullets. They utilized an "advanced unitary penetrator warhead to channel the missiles raw kinetic energy into a direct-impact hit on its target." From Iron Man: Hypervelocity #2:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkMunitions31-GungnirMissileHypervelocity2.jpg
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkMunitions32-GungnirMissile.jpg

He outfitted the U.S. Navy with atomic naval cannons that could fire nuclear salvos more than 500 miles. From Tales of Suspense #41:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkMunitions02-AtomicNavalCannonsTOS41.jpg

Years ago, Stark designed a particle beam torpedo for the Pentagon. "It harnessed the momentary compression energy of an ultra-high explosive to generate a focused particle beam capable of slicing through the hull of a nuclear sub at a range of five miles... underwater." From Iron Man vol.3 #65:

STARK SUPER-WEAPONS

The weapons Stark designed were not just limited to conventional munitions. He also developed various super-weapons. A disintegrator ray installed in a common flashlight case instantly vaporizes tanks and two-foot thick walls in Tales of Suspense #42:

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkMunitions15-CentrifugalForceRayTOS91.jpg

The cobalt ray was an energy weapon with rather undefined qualities. Before it could be implemented, the Grey Gargoyle stole it and threatened to turn it on Iron Man. Instead, he reversed it and it actually managed to reverse the Grey Gargoyle's stone-form. From Tales of Suspense #96:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkMunitions17-CobaltRayTOS96.jpg

Stark's cosmitronic cannon was "designed to absorb the cosmic rays always present in the atmosphere -- then project them in a cohesive energy beam capable of countless uses!" Here, a shot restores the Red Ghost's natural adhesion from a deteriorating intangible state. From Iron Man #83:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkMunitions20-CosmitronicCannonIM83.jpg

The ultimate trump-card against Stark's own technology: negator packs. When he discovered that his designs were being used by super-criminals and organizations around the world, he would use these negator packs to disable the misappropriated Starktech permanently by fusing wiring and rendering plastic into power. He would end up disabling various foes, like Stilt-Man, the Controller, Beetle, Mandroids, Crimson Dynamo, and others. From Iron Man #225-67, 229, Darkhawk Annual #1 and Iron Man vol.3 #12:

XXV. STARK INVENTIONS (cont'd)

STARK WMDS

Several of Stark's super-weapons were classifiable as weapons of mass destruction. A rather mundanely-named weapon Stark created for the U.S. military was the anti-gravity device. A one-time fluke design, the device was powerful enough to levitate tanks, and tear entire factories from their foundations and was billed as being powerful enough to "move mountains." And it indeed was when Black Widow stole it and literally lifted a mountain. From Tales of Suspense #53 and retold in Marvel Fanfare #10:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkMunitions10-Anti-GravityDeviceTOS53.jpg

Weather-controlling satellites don't seem like much, unless they're built by Stark and they're used by Ultron to wreck the entire world with environmental catastrophes. From Mighty Avengers #1:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkInventions54-WeatherSatellitesMightyAvengers1.jpg

Another variant of Stark's weather machines proved capable of distorting the weather even beyond Thor's influence. Bluesky was actually a terraforming machine that could create inhabitable atmospheres from inhospitable ones. The flipside of that was Winterman, a machine whose purpose was "to turn the atmosphere itself into a weapon." It operated via "a particle. Nuclear winter in a prefab speck of atmospheric dust. Light blocked out; heat trapped in." From FBCD: Iron Man/Thor#1:

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkInventions71-BlueskyWinterman.jpg

His S.P.I.N. technology sabotaged by Hardball, and having been captured by Hulk's Warbound, Stark was forced to consider his weapon of last resort to deal with the Hulk: the N-Zone doomsday transmitters. "When correctly placed around a location... in this case, Manhattan -- they'll open a dimensional portal... sending everything within their perimeter... to the distortion area of the Negative Zone. Were it's positive matter will collide with the Zone's antimatter... annihilating it instantly." From Iron Man vol.4 #20:

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkMunitions32c-N-ZoneDoomsdayTransmitters.jpg

One of Stark's more destructive WMDs was the event horizon device. "Essentially, the EVH is a five hundred kiloton gross wield nuclear device. It's blast wave is shielded by a fully programmable opposing gravitational field powered by the interior fission of the device. . . . generating a micro-black hole analog the size of one hundred protons. Everything -- all organic and inorganic matter within the blast zone -- is drawn into this black hole. . . . The analog disperses into a harmless burst of Hawkins radiation." From Iron Man vol.4 #26:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkMunitions33-EventHorizonDeviceIMv426.jpg

"A power drainer . . . a genetic disrupter . . . a million miles ahead of anything . . . the nuclear bomb in the war of powers." Mutants, cyborgs, alien-based powers, Gods, not even the Sentry was beyond its influence. From New Avengers #55-57:

The heavy rain protocol was reverse-engineered from an alien weapon that used plasma energy beams, super-heated through the planet's energy field itself, to barrage a target from orbit. Here, it completely slags Ultimo. From Iron Man: Titanium #1:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkMunitions39-HeavyRainProtocolIMTitanium1.jpg

The dark matter accelerator was never meant to be built, but Stark designed it nonetheless and Kang stole it through time-travel. It was powerful enough to turn the Avengers and the entire city of Manhattan inside out. From Avengers vol.4 #1:

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkInventions79-SolsHammerNewAvengersv59.jpg

Stark's even weaponized an entire city. Here, Troy, a.k.a. Mandarin City, takes on both the rogue Mandarin rings and the Hulk. From Iron Man vol.5 #27 and Original Sin: Hulk vs. Iron Man #3:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkMunitions48-Troy.jpg
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkMunitions49-TroyOSHvIM3.jpg

Designed to destroy his allies, the Red Skull manipulated Stark into inventing two adamantium Stark Sentinels programmed with the Civil War files he kept on all the heroes. They were powerful enough to defeat the combined might of the Avengers World team, the Uncanny Avengers, X-Men, Medusa, Dr. Strange, Nova and Invisible Woman. From Avengers & X-Men: Axis #1:

XXV. STARK INVENTIONS (cont'd)

STARK VEHICLES

Tony Stark didn't just provide munitions and weapons under his contracts, he also provided various vehicles. Here, he debuts a new mini-sub that can "out-run and out-flank almost any enemy torpedo!" From Tales of Suspense #66:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkVehicles01-MiniSubTOS66.jpg

He's developed space rockets, including the Uranus-12 rocket. From Iron Man #3:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkVehicles02-Uranus-12RocketIM3.jpg

Tony Stark did not invent the original Quinjets used by the Avengers, but he did modify several of them. Here, he outfits a Quinjet with a Mjolnir overdrive engine that boosts its speed. From Avengers #103:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkVehicles03-MjolnirOverdriveAvengers103.jpg

After awhile, Tony Stark began designing his own Quinjet models. As revealed in New Avengers #4:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkVehicles14-QuinjetNewAvengers4.jpg

When Stark became paralyzed from the waist-down, he designed a hoverchair. The "most sophisticated mobility unit for the handicapped ever devised," at least by Earth standards. From Iron Man #245:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkVehicles09-HoverChairIM245.jpg

In Marvel, Tony Stark was actually responsible for designing the SK-1 Blackbird jet, famously used by the X-Men. From Iron Man: The Iron Age #1:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkVehicles11-BlackbirdIronAge1.jpg

One of his more iconic vehicle inventions was Nick Fury's flying car. His intimate knowledge of the conversion reactor powering it allowed him to trace it. From Iron Man: The Iron Age #2 and Iron Man #129:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkVehicles12-FlyingCarIronAge2.jpg
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkVehicles06-ConversionReactorIM129.jpg

His flying car wasn't the only thing Stark built for Nick Fury. The original S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier was actually co-designed by Reed Richards and Tony Stark. From Iron Man: The Iron Age #2:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkVehicles13-HelicarrierIronAge2.jpg

Eventually, Stark would design a new Stark Helicarrier, a sole copyright of Stark Industries. From Mighty Avengers #1:

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkVehicles04-LifeSupportModuleCaptainMarvel50.jpg

Unfortunately, the life support module was destroyed by the Super Adaptoid. Stark would go on to design a new one, the Jupiter landing vehicle. From Iron Man #116:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkVehicles05-JupiterLandingVehicleIM116.jpg

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkVehicles08-TurboBoreIM174.jpg

Another subterranean vehicle was the groundhawk tank. Instead of using a drill to bore, it used energy beams. From West Coast Avengers Annual #6:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkVehicles10-GroundhawkTankWCAAnnual6.jpg

Before he ever designed his own Deep Sea armor, he designed the sea tank to "withstand the enormous pressures at the bottom of the ocean!" From Iron Man: The Iron Age #1:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkVehicles11a-SeaTank.jpg

In the wake of M-Day, Tony Stark even designed several Sentinel models. One such design was the brawler Sentinel. "More fortified than the standard unit, this is built for close combat and to withstand a tremendous amount of punishment. It's got triple-plated armor, and includes a protective adamantium chest plate, as well as reinforced hydraulics to give it extra strength.." From Sentinel Squad O.N.E. #1:

XXV. STARK INVENTIONS (cont'd)

STARK SECURITY

As one of Marvel Earth's foremost inventors, Tony Stark is widely responsible for superhuman security.

Naturally, Avengers Mansion security was designed by Stark. Here, it unintentionally immobilizes a team including Thor, Captain Marvel, Vision, Mantis, Swordsman, Captain America, Scarlet Witch and Iron Man himself. From Avengers #119:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkSecurity03-MansionDefensesAvengers119.jpg

Avengers Tower security was also designed by Stark. In catastrophe situations, Starktech force fields automatically protect all personnel. From Avengers vol.4 #14:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkSecurity12a-AvengersTowerAvengersv414.jpg

The rebuilt Avengers Tower defense system was capable of fending off the first invasion wave of Thanos' fleet with a killzone radius of approximately one mile in New Avengers vol.3 #9:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkSecurity18-AvengersTowerDefensesNewAvengersv39.jpg

For security breaches, the Avengers Tower Protocol Nine calls for incredibly menacing, robotic, candy-doll... helper elf... automatons??? "External defense plan I was working on. They gotta look like something, and I figured it's Christmas!" From Avengers Annual vol.5 #1:

Stark also designed the Avengers Deep Space Monitoring Station out by Jupiter. Its communications systems track all sorts of deep space transmissions to help prepare the Earth in case of attack. From Journey Into Mystery #652:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkSecurity17-AvengersDeepSpaceStationJIM652.jpg

The Q.U.I.L.L. Network is Stark's "personal array of microsatellites, watching out for anything headed our way." From Iron Man: Fatal Frontier #1:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkSecurity21-QUILLNetworkFatalFrontier1.jpg

In a world teeming with supervillains, there also needs to be someplace to put them when they are incarcerated. He first started providing sophisticated stun ray riot control security way for prisons back in King Size Avengers #1:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkSecurity01-StunulatorKing-SizeAvengers1.jpg

Stark spent months designing a Hulk confinement chamber with "restraining bands . . . made of triple-layered titanium -- as are the walls of the chamber itself." From Incredible Hulk #153:

He would eventually tailor specific containment cells at Ryker's Island Prison for the supervillain community. For instance, a climate controlled room keeps Sandman from being solid enough to smash his way out, while an insulated rubber room keeps Electro from generating dangerous currents of electricity, while a magnetically shielded room keeps the Grey Gargoyle from touching anything. When the New Avengers were tricked into retrieving what they thought was Captain America's body, Stark used the Raft Prison's neural net power inhibitor to weaken them. It was only Dr. Strange's spells that functioned enough to help them escape. From New Avengers #29:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkSecurity11-PowerInhibitorNewAvengers29.jpg

Another special confinement prison, the superheavy cell was originally designed for the Hulk. It used a "liquid with programmable density . . . This is dropping raw tonnage on their backs." It was used to keep the Grey Gargoyle imprisoned. From Fear Itself #7.3:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkSecurity13-SuperHeavyCellFearItself73.jpg

The latest prison he designed was the Bone Prison. It was designed for one occupant, Frank Castle, aka, the Punisher. Located 500 meters below Lake Michigan, it was meant to keep other prisoners safe and "be escape-proof, [with] nothing he can cannibalize to make into a weapon, to make an escape." During the Civil War, the decimated mutant population was trapped inside one of Stark's nuclear bunkers. The combined X-Men can't put so much a dent in it. It requires a precisely orchestrated effort from the Mighty Avengers, the X-Men and Sentinel Squad O.N.E. to penetrate it. From Civil War: X-Men #4:

XXV. STARK INVENTIONS (cont'd)

STARK A.I.

Stark invented highly advanced artificial intelligence systems to assist his industry and super-heroics. The first one he built was called H.O.M.E.R. -- Heuristically Operative Matrix Emulation Rostrum. H.O.M.E.R. was capable of socio-economic impact modeling for new Stark inventions and projecting geo-political trends for the next century. From Iron Man #298:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkAI01-HomerIM298.jpg

The next artificial intelligence he created was P.L.A.T.O. - Piezo Electrical Logistic Analytic Tactical Operator. It served Stark's independent super-team, Force Works by conducting constant threat assessment worldwide and operating their base of operations. From Force Works #1:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkAI02-PlatoForceWorks1.jpg

The next A.I. F.R.I.D.A.Y. was primarily designed to assist Stark directly. Friday was advanced enough to hack Dr. Doom's computers at one point. It did possess a rather mischievous, youthful personality. One that would eventually become a rebellious teenager full of danger and potential. Stark couldn't be more proud. From Iron Man vol.3 #53, Avengers vol.3 #63 and Iron Man: Iron Protocols #1:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkAI03-FridayIMv353.jpg

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkAI07-FridayIronProtocols1.jpg

In the event of Stark's death, the STARKTECH 9 was an artificial intelligence created to assist either S.H.I.E.L.D. or the Avengers during crisis times. It was completely sealed off from outside programs or viruses and saw action in Mighty Avengers #4-5 when Ultron took over Stark's body:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkAI05-Starktech9MightyAvengers4.jpg
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkAI06-Starktech9MightyAvengers5.jpg

J.A.R.V.I.S. was another artificial intelligence who acted as the interface to bridge the gap between Pepper Potts and the Rescue armor. Jarvis contained the entirety of the Stark Dataspine also. From Invincible Iron Man #11:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkAI08-JarvisIIM11.jpg

After J.A.R.V.I.S. became corrupted by the Mandarin, Stark invented P.E.P.P.E.R.. Modeled after Pepper Potts' personality, it kept Tony grounded while adventuring throughout deep space. From Iron Man vol.5 #4:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkAI09-PepperIMv54.jpg

On his return to Earth, P.E.P.P.E.R. became H.E.L.E.N. who was designated to run Troy and the Core of Tony's new futurist project. What that is remains to be seen. From Iron Man vol.5 #19:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkAI09-HelenIMv519.jpg

STARK BIOTECHNOLOGY

Although he is primarily an engineer, Stark also dabbled in biotechnology. He once invented a flesh-healing serum which closed "any open would in two seconds with synthetic, liquid tissue." From Tales of Suspense #41:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkBiotech01-FleshHealingSerumTOS41.jpg

The cobalt enervator was a machine that could assist in otherwise impossible surgery on terminal patients by infusing them with energy. Although, without proper precautions, it could mutate patients into super-strong freaks. It was used multiple times in Tales of Suspense #74, Iron Man #67 and 84-85:

The elecrosthetic conductor "works directly on the brain, using sound waves to calm the electronic impulses." While it kept Banner's heartbeat stable, it couldn't prevent his mind from reverting to the Hulk's personality in Iron Man #132:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkBiotech06-ElectrosthethicConductorIM132.jpg

When Stark's nervous system collapsed, he developed neuro-stimulus webbing to support it. From Iron Man #270:

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkBiotech08-Neuro-StimulusWebbingIM271.jpg

Stark also developed a medware smart membrane that kept Stark alive despite massive trauma to his chest cavity in Iron Man: Hypervelocity #2:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkBiotech09-MedwareSmartMembraneHypervelocity2.jpg

Even more advanced than that was the Stark lifevest which saved James Rhodes' life despite being nearly slagged by Living Laser in Invincible Iron Man #515:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkBiotech10-StarkLifevestIIM515.jpg

One of his more notorious achievements was the clone of Thor during Civil War. From Civil War #4:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkBiotech10-RagnarokCivilWar4.jpg

He also created a transbod clone of James Rhodes after his best friend was mangled in a terrorist attack. From War Machine vol.2 #5:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkBiotech11-TransbodWarMachinev25.jpg

XXV. STARK INVENTIONS (cont'd)

STARK GEAR

Before he renounced his munitions past, Stark designed a series of battle armors. "Kevlar and titanium combined with computer-aided reactive capabilities... target acquisition... monitoring of telemetry... certain chemical stimulants to enhance injury response... endurance. . . . It was programmed to numb the pain and juice his system with whatever it took to keep him fighting... no mater how badly he was injured... until he died on his feet." From Iron Man vol.3 #50:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkGear12-BattlearmorIMv350.jpg

Being such a prolific inventor, Stark would inevitably gear his fellow super-heroes. Early in Cap's career with the Avengers, Stark would occasionally borrow his indestructible shield for study. When doing so, he provided a facsimile Cap shield that would mechanically return to his glove when thrown. From Avengers #6:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkGear01-CapShieldAvengers6.jpg

It wouldn't be the first shield replacement. When Rogers resigned his Captain America identity, he also forfeited the shield. Stark gave him a pure adamantium shield to use. From Captain America #339:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkGear04-AdamantiumShieldCA339.jpg

And when Cap lost his shield to the ocean, Stark tried to recreate an exact replica. From Captain America vol.3 #3:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkGear11-CapShieldCapv33.jpg

When the super-soldier serum in Cap's system deteriorated, Stark created Captain America's exo-skeleton armor that would permit him to continue on. The armor interfaced with a biochip that was implanted within Cap's body. From Iron Man #314 and Captain America #438:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkGear09-CapExoskeletonIM314.jpg
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkGear10-CapExoskeletonCA438.jpg

A number of Hawkeye's special arrows came from Tony Stark, including this vibro-shaft arrow in Avengers #103:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkGear02-VibroShaftsAvengers103.jpg

Stark also developed Hawkeye's outfit which was bullet-proof, but still super-light and installed with infrared lenses. He even constructed his new bow. From Avengers Spotlight #30:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkGear05-HawkeyeCostumeAvengersSpotlight30.jpg

Stark even designed a Hawkeye cowl to assist Clint when he was undergoing blindness issues. "The sensors in this new cowl should help your brain register what's real and what isn't Instead of relying on what the naked eyes see, the tech here gives you a full spectrum of u.v., infrared, and even radar-like motion detectors that enable you . . . ." He even gave him a miniature version embedded in sunglasses. From Hawkeye: Blindspot #1:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkGear14-HawkeyeCowlHawkeyeBlindspot1.jpg
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkGear15-HawkeyeSunglasses.jpg

Stark also developed one iteration of the USAgent outfit and photon shield. When John Walker resigned his membership with Avengers West Coast, he was invited to join Force Works and offered a micro-mesh armor weave and a photon shield. The photon shield absorbed energy from defended impacts and could release that stored energy as an attack. From Forceworks #1 and 3:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkGear06-USAgentSuitForceworks1.jpg
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkGear07-PhotonShield.jpg
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkGear08-PhotonShieldForceWorks3.jpg

When Thor was cursed by Hela with brittle bones, he came to Tony to develop an advanced splint to help set them. Tony did him one better and made Thor's exoskeleton arm that would respond to Thor's nerves and become a virtual arm while safeguarding his broken bones within. From Thor #375:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkGear03-ThorExoskeletonArmThor375.jpg

It wasn't just his fellow Avengers he geared up though. He also designed Misty Knights' bionic arm. "The exterior is diamond interlaced with vibranium. It is harder, lighter and stronger." From Daughters of the Dragon #4:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkGear13-BionicArmDaughtersofDragon4.jpg

The Punisher's dampers which rendered Castle completely invisible to even the Baxter Building's security system were "borrowed" from Stark. From Civil War #6:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkInventions52-DampersCW6.jpg

XXV. STARK INVENTIONS (cont'd)

STARK GEAR

And Stark's role in Fear Itself was that of weaponer, creating the Mighty's Arms: Odinpower-blessed weapons for the Mighty to combat the Serpent's Worthy. "My repulsor power nodes and other proprietary bits of Stark technology inside -- and enchanted uru outside. Each one designed for one specific Avenger to use." From Fear Itself #6-7:

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkGear20-PhoenixBattlesuitsAvX6.jpg

He even convinced Shang Chi, one of Marvel's premier and-to-hand specialists, to try some weapons, including Shang Chi's enhanced nunchaku and gauntlets. From Avengers vol.5 #11 and 20 and Avengers World #3:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkGear21-ShangChiNunchakuAvengersv511.jpg

When Falcon heroically takes Arnim Zola's bomb high into the atmosphere to save New York City, it is Falcon's vibranium wings invented by Stark that save Sam Wilson by absorbing most of the blast even from within the heart of the detonation. From Captain America vol.5 #25:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkGear31-FalconWingsCAv525.jpg

And for himself? He's created various gadgets such as eyeglasses fetish: a "dual-mode anti-personnel/anti-hardware incapacitation pulse" and the power tie. A "camouflaged assembly of processor and transmitter arrays, solid-state capacitor chips and emergency backupware, designed to reboot incapacitated Iron Man armor from the inside." From Iron Man: Titanium #1:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkInventions67-EyeglassesFetishIMTitanium1.jpg

XXV. STARK INVENTIONS (cont'd)

STARK SCANNERS

Even though dimensional travel isn't Iron Man's typical bailiwick, he did invent an interdimensional scanner. From Avengers #86:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkInventions16-Inter-DimensionalScannerAvengers86.jpg

The memory inducer was a machine that was designed to penetrate and probe the mind for memories. It was first used to help an amnesiac Hercules in Avengers #99. Because an immortal mind was fortified against such probing, the power output of the memory inducer could utilize Mjolnir's energies. It would be used again in Thor #230, Avengers #161 and Marvel Comics Presents #44:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkInventions18-MemoryInducerAvengers99.jpg

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkInventions41-MemoryInducerMCP44.jpg

A possible variant of the memory inducer was the memory extractor which does exactly as advertised in Iron Man #115:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkInventions25-MemoryExtractorIM115.jpg

A long range sonic strata scanner can "trace and locate the source disturbance for any future tremors or quakes that strike this hemisphere, even if they're half-a-continent away." From Marvel Team-Up #110:

And you'd think Reed Richards might lay claim to this particular achievement but, no, Stark's quantum server array is "the single largest consolidation of indexed knowledge on Earth, large enough to carry h.d. images of every inch of Earth ten trillion times over . . . ." From Invincible Iron Man #6:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkInventions60-QuantumServerArrayIIM6.jpg

Repulsor-powered terminal stations allow him to access his Extremis-enhanced brain directly and treat it like any other external drive. At the same time, it could also interface with human brains to copy and erase memories. From Invincible Iron Man #9 and Secret Avengers vol.2 #9:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkInventions60a-TerminalStationIIM9.jpg

While made for the simple purpose of communication, the image projector's abilities were actually quite astonishing. The electronic images could be transmitted literally anywhere, even right through walls at the speed of light. The images also were capable of projecting sound. And the sights and sounds were heard by its user. And while it may seem like a silly Silver Age invention, he uses it again decades later. From Avengers #3 and Marvel Comics Presents #43:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkInventions02-ImageProjectorAvengers3.jpg

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkInventions30-AlphaParticleGeneratorAnnual8.jpg

He's even developed a beta particle generator which "impedes the passage of beta particles, microscopic particles, microscopic fragments of matter that move through the cosmos every second. By slowing them down even minutely, tremendous amounts of usable energy are generated. From a source that can never be depleted." From Iron Man #221:

As stated before, the repulsor nodes are the pinnacle of Stark technology which serve as an incredible power source. From Invincible Iron Man #8:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkElectromagnetics06-RepulsorNodeIIM8.jpg

The repulsor tech apparently works off a brand new element that Stark created based on his father's initial theories, Starkium. From Avengers: Endless Wartime #1:

XXV. STARK INVENTIONS (cont'd)

OTHER INVENTIONS

Stark's also created a near-endless catalogue of devices and machines that defy categorization.

The first life model decoy that appeared in Marvel Comics was a Stark design. While they had more fantastic origins, Stark was still the first one in published history to utilize them. They could even transform from a facsimile of Iron Man to a facsimile of Stark. The LMDs were so good, that advanced ones could even fool Wolverine's senses completely. From Iron Man #12, 113: and Fury/Agent 13 #1:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkInventions11-LMDIM12.jpg
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkInventions23-LMD6IM113.jpg
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkInventions48-FuryLMDFuryAgent131.jpg
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkInventions49-FuryLMD.jpg

Unfortunately, the LMDs were sometimes so good that their artificial intelligence could go awry and grow beyond Stark's programming. From Iron Man #17:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkInventions14-LMDIM17.jpg

He even created LMD copies of other people like Thor to help their secret identity issues. From Avengers #146:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkInventions21-LMDAvengers146.jpg

A forerunner of the image inducers, Stark invented illusion mirrors that could project holographic images of himself en masse. As with his armors, he would continue to modify and improve on the design and created a handheld portable image inducer. From Tales of Suspense #43 and 98:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkInventions01-MirrorIllusionsTOS43.jpg
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkInventions09-ImageInducerTOS98.jpg

A predecessor to his camouflage stealth tech, the light-bending device hid him from prying eyes inside his car so he could change into his Iron Man suit. He would lend a portable one to Spider-Woman. From King-Size Avengers #1 and Iron Man #214:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkInventions06-Light-BenderKing-SizeAvengers1.jpg
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkInventions31-PortableCloakerIM214.jpg

Here, Stark tests out a new earth-borer which harnesses thousands of megatons of atomic energy to drill downward. From Tales of Suspense #87:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkInventions07-EarthBorerTOS87.jpg

The sensonic drill uses drill bits that "vibrate[], breaking rock with sound, [and] since there's no physical contact, there's no friction. And friction heat is the major cause of explosions when gas pockets are hit!" From Marvel Super-Heroes Special #14:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkInventions45-SensonicDrillMarvelSuper-HeroesSpecial14.jpg

Kang's temporal transposer "is designed to shunt us out of time, effectively escaping the reach of the one who comes . . . This beachhead Earth will be reduced to a breeding ground for those fit to serve in [Kang's] Anachronaut army... and a boneyard for the rest . . . ." But while time-manipulating technology is Kang's area of expertise, the temporal transposer was actually designed and built by Tony Stark. From Avengers #395:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkInventions46-TemporalTransposerAvengers395.jpg
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkInventions47-TemporalTransposer.jpg

Not only that, but Tony Stark has actually built a functioning time machine, one of the only scientists on Marvel Earth to do so. From Iron Man vol.3 #59:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkInventions51-TimeMachineIMv359.jpg

The star suit was meant for the rigors of outer space and proved powerful enough to go toe-to-toe with Luke Cage. From Power Man #17:

The Chaos Mainframe is "a predictor designed to assimilate worldwide data and statistically assess where crisis points will occur." Scarlet Witch's hex power could interact with it to achieve an almost perfect success rate of prediction. From Force Works #3:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkInventions44-ChaosMainframeForceWorks3.jpg

He built a similar device during Avengers Vs. X-Men, the Mad Thinker device. It's purpose was to utilize Scarlet Witch's hex abilities, creating "a LaPlace-Reichenbach predictability matrix . . . that will predict all the hundreds of potential outcomes of battle . . . ." From Avengers Vs. X-Men Infinite #10:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkInventions74-MadThinkerDeviceAvXInfinite10.jpg

XXV. STARK INVENTIONS

STARKTECH

The fact is, Stark has created so many inventions, that his name is synonymous with technology. The influence he's had can be measured not just in the number of inventions he's innovated, but the number of times it's been borrowed, appropriated and outright stolen. Even beyond Armor Wars, people just can't keep their hands off of Starktech.

The supervillain, Endotherm, had no qualms admitting it, "Not only do the thermal control components I stole from Stark enable me to absorb heat -- hey also allow me to release that absorbed heat at will!" From Iron Man #136:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkTech00IM136.jpg

Dr. Doom was not above using "critical and unique components from Stark International" to enhance his own machinery. From Iron Man #149:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkTech01IM149.jpg

Quasimodo made a mistake in using "Stark Enterprises components" to reconstruct himself since he could always use safeguards to shut those components down. From Iron Man Annual #12:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkTech01aAnnual12.jpg

Ezekiel Stane "spent a small fortune buying up whatever extant Stark tech [he] could find on the black market, studying it, cannibalizing it, reverse-engineering it . . . ." From Invincible Iron Man #3:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkTech02IIM3.jpg

Norman Osborn tried to use confiscated Starktech when he took over H.A.M.M.E.R. during Dark Reign. From Invincible Iron Man #17:

As noted earlier, Kang couldn't resist stealing Starktech in Avengers vol.4 #1:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkTech05Avengersv41.jpg

Dr. Octopus got caught red-handed using "rip-offs of Stark designs" for his Octobots in Invincible Iron Man #501:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkTech06IIM501.jpg

Arcade's new Murder World was built partly with "some black market Stark tech" in Avengers Arena #7:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkTech07AvengersArena7.jpg

The Pentagon was shameless in admitting they've "eyed Stark tech with unrequited lust." From Secret Avengers vol.2 #3:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkTech08SecretAvengersv23.jpg

S.H.I.E.L.D. itself was armed with "technology provided by Tony Stark himself . . . ." From Avenging Spider-Man #20:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkTech09AvengingSpider-Man20.jpg

Master thieves constantly target Starktech, including Gambit. From Gambit vol. #13 and 15:

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkTech11Gambitv515.jpg

During Infinity, a crew of old Iron Man foes led by Spymaster see a perfect opportunity for the biggest score of their lives, "ripping off Tony Stark," and selling off the spoils to eager buyers. Little do they know that the buyer was Captain Atlas of the Kree. From Infinity: The Heist #1 and 3:

Black Widow and Emma Frost surmise that the only way someone could have penetrated the Hellfire Club's database was with "pirated Stark technology." From A+X #13:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkTech12AX13.jpg

Cortex agent, Barbara McDevitt, uses a lightbender "modeled on Stark technology. It was crude -- guesswork taking the place of genius. . . ." From Mighty Avengers vol.2 #4:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkTech13MightyAvengersv24.jpg

Ex-Thunderbolt, Fixer, ends up selling stolen repulsor tech in Superior Foes of Spider-Man #7:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkTech15SuperiorFoes7.jpg

Wolverine attempts to draw Viper out in Madripoor and he does it by offering to sell on the black market a Mark IX Iron Man helmet. The prospective buyer exclaims, "This is... incredible. The tactical advantage something like this would grant... what is your price?" Look closely and you'll see that it is able to identify a morphed Mystique and an incognito Kristoff Vernard. From Death of Wolverine #2:

XXVI. STARK KNOWLEDGE

As one of the cornerstones of the premier superhero group in Marvel, Tony Stark is not just one of Marvel's foremost intelligences, he is also one of its most learned. To catalogue Stark's entire base of knowledge would be counter-productive. But to illustrate the vast extent of it, here are some examples.

The entire Avengers database is open to him, which has recorded knowledge of all their adventures and discoveries. Here, when he scans Rick's body for energies, he recognizes the Destiny Force from the Kree/Skrull War. From Avengers Forever #1:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkKnowledge07AvengersForever1.jpg

Stark's knowledge isn't just limited to the Avengers-related subjects. He also has full access to Fantastic Four archives: "[M]y catalogue of reference for otherworldly energies and entities is pretty exhaustive. I have the combined research of both myself and Reed Richards. Skrull, Kree, Brood, Shi'ar, Negative Zone, we have it all catalogued..." From New Avengers #17:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkKnowledge08aNA17.jpg

Those files include full dossiers on Black Panther and Storm that can be uploaded to his attack folders. From Black Panther vol.3 #21:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkKnowledge09BPv321.jpg

The Red Onslaught revels in having stolen some of the most critical knowledge that Stark possesses, "Those amazing Civil War files you gathered on all of your companions' vulnerabilities -- every power, every weakness." From Avengers & X-Men: Axis #1:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkKnowledge20Axis1.jpg

With his knowledge, he's created the Madscienceosphere, a compendium of "every scientific establishment worth talking about, and all the ones people don't like to talk about, too. A.I.M., the Beyond Corporation, RoXXon, the Secret Empire, Project: Pegasus, Graymalkin, Mys-Tech . . . ." From Avengers Assemble 25:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkKnowledge15AvengersAssemble25.jpg

And Stark isn't above cribbing the knowledge of them. Here he reveals that he's reverse-engineered and extrapolated almost as many technical innovations from super-villain hardware as he's invented on his own. From A.I.M. to H.Y.D.R.A. to S.H.I.E.L.D. From Iron Man: Hypervelocity #3:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkKnowledge10Hypervelocity3.jpg

He's even compiled a database of all supernatural phenomena he's encountered. Pretendium intel "is how I file Thor, Dr. Strange, Hercules and that sort of stuff." From Thunderbolts vol.2 #28:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkKnowledge17Thunderboltsv228.jpg

He's begun studying and integrating Recorder 451's technology, who itself had "integrated the best of a half a dozen of the major space empires. Plus another dozen precursor races I still have absolutely no knowledge of. . . . He's like a holy grail." From Iron Man vol.5 #18:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkKnowledge12IMv518.jpg

He's begun studying the White Event. Both the circumstances triggering it and the consequences flowing from it. From Iron Man: Fatal Frontier #3:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkKnowledge13FatalFrontier3.jpg

Phlogistone, an energy resource stemming partly from the White Event, was studied by Stark intensely with 451's technology during Iron Man: Fatal Frontier #4:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkKnowledge14FatalFrontier4.jpg

Iron Man has studied the mysterious Zodiac Key, an artifact capable of splitting the Abstract In-Betweener, in Iron Man #35:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkKnowledge01IM35.jpg

He's even experimented with Cosmic Cubes. From Fury/Agent 13 #2:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkKnowledge05FuryAgent132.jpg

He's studied Wonder Man's ionic energies in Emperor Doom #1. This probably explains how he was able to single-handedly neutralize him when they later fought after Dark Reign:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkKnowledge03EmperorDoom1.jpg

He's studied the Vision enough for years to prepare counter-measures against his intangibility. From Iron Man #324:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkKnowledge04IM324.jpg

He studied Jocasta so thoroughly that he's able to make the connection between an unusual numeric pattern and her multidimensional operating system in Iron Man vol.3 #19:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkKnowledge08IMv319.jpg

He's studied Captain America's shield and even discovered the exact circumstances behind it shattering in Captain America vol.3 #16:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkKnowledge06CAv316.jpg

During and in the aftermath of Avengers vs. X-Men, he studies the Phoenix Force... even enlisting the cooperation of the incarcerated Scott Summers. From AvX: Consequences #4:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkKnowledge11AvXConsequences4.jpg

Some of the Marvel Universe's greatest secrets are known by Tony Stark. That includes the threat of the Incursions collapsing the Marvel Multiverse... and the impossible death of the Living Tribunal. From New Avengers #8:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkKnowledge18a.jpg

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkKnowledge18c.jpg

XXVII. STARK SKILL

Stark isn't just a big brain. As one of Marvel's foremost adventurers and superheroes, he's also had to teach himself to be a fighter and a warrior. And while being known most for fighting inside a weapons suit, he is very skilled in hand-to-hand combat.

His skill comes largely from being taught by some of Marvel's greatest hand-to-hand combatants. That includes Captain America. From Iron Man #125:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkSkill05IM125.jpg

The fruits of Captain America's training are constantly referenced from his earliest days to modern days. The following examples are from Iron Man #125, 135, 156, Iron Man: Legacy #3, 6 and Iron Man: Fatal Frontier #10-11:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkSkill06.jpg
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkSkill07IM135.jpg
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkSkill08IM156.jpg
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkSkill18Legacy3.jpg
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkSkill19Legacy6.jpg

Here, Cap's combat training allows him to dismantle a group of Skrulls in New Avengers Illuminati #1:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkSkill17NewAvengersIluminati1.jpg

He's even held his own against Captain America himself in straight H2H. From Civil War: Casualties of War #!:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkSkill15CasualtiesofWar1.jpg
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkSkill16.jpg

Even his opponents recognize Captain America's training when engaging in H2H combat. Here, Madame Hydra comments mid-fight, "Nnn -- you fight well. A style I recognize... taught by a mutual star-spangled friend I'd guess." From Iron Man: Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. Annual #1:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkSkill17aIMDoSAnnual1.jpg

But it wasn't just Captain America who trained him. He's also received training from Black Widow, Black Panther and Shang-Chi. That training was good enough for an unarmed Stark to lay out an Extremis enhancile momentarily. If you can recall, those same Extremis enhanciles made short work of his Pentagon armor. From Iron Man Fatal Frontier #12:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkSkill26FatalFrontier12.jpg
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkSkill2.jpg

While vastly outclassed, he's been able to go hand-to-hand with the Mandarin in straight fisticuffs. From Tales of Suspense #86 and Iron Man #100:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkSkill02TOS86.jpg
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkSkill04IM100.jpg

Here he out-ninjas the Masters of Silence at their own game. From Iron Man #282:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkSkill12IM282.jpg

Trained military veteran like James Rhodes admits that in a straight fight, "there's no way I could've taken Tony in a fair fight." From Iron Man #262:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkSkill11IM262.jpg

He says he's no Bruce Lee, but he's still skilled enough to jab vital nerves and render foes unconscious. From Iron Man #67:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkSkill03IM67.jpg

Normal thugs are clowned by his martial arts prowess. From Iron Man vol.3 #41:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkSkill14IMv341.jpg

Tony Stark is good enough to defeat an entire array of alien gladiators in Iron Man vol.5 #7:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkSkill20IMv57.jpg

One of his most impressive displays of martial arts skill came when he dismantled a group of thugs while simultaneously engrossing himself within a virtual reality hacking suite interface in time dilation mode AND remote controlling an armor against Extremis enhanciles. From Iron Man: Fatal Frontier #5-7:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkSkill21FatalFrontier5.jpg
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkSkill22FatalFrontier6.jpg
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkSkill23FatalFrontier7.jpg

Stark is also an expert at marksmanship. Here he impresses his date with some quick shooting and holds his own against Spymaster. From Avengers #224 and Iron Man #220:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkSkill09Avengers224.jpg
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkSkill10IM220.jpg

And it wasn't just H2H that Cap taught him. Cap also taught Stark evasion techniques which save himself from suppression drone attacks in Iron Man #258.1:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkSkill21IM2581.jpg

His survival instincts, skill and honed reflexes allow him to defeat a shark whilst unarmed and submerged in freezing waters. From Marvel Super-Heroes Special #13:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkSkill13MarvelSuper-HeroesSpecial13.jpg

XXVIII. STARK WILLPOWER

"If Anthony Stark's armor were merely a veneer of iron, there would be little to term heroic about its wearer. But its significance goes deeper... to a will of iron, a sense of self, and [a] tenacious a grasp on the principle of the individuals essential dignity and worth . . . ." Here, he mentally struggles with the evil Molecule Man to a standoff for control of his wand. "No human could do more... or maintain such concentration for long. From Iron Man Annual #3:

Here he resists the telepathy and Darkforce abilities of Black Mamba in Iron Man #160:
http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/OneDumbG0/Stark%20Stats/StarkWillpower04IM160.jpg

For a time, Iron Man's artificial nervous system was responsible for thwarting mental control, such as the Controller's. From Iron Man #293:
