I got it, Bardock appears in spirit form, much like Goku did when Gohan fought Cell, and just as Goku's about to lose, Bardock gives him his energy. All of this while "Hikari no Tabi" is playing. That is the song from the credits of the Bardock special. Or, Goku is preparing a spirit bomb, and Frieza is about to rush him before being kicked down by Bardock, who then gives him the last bit of energy to finish the Spirit Bomb, Bardock disappears after saying "Do it, Kakarot! Show him the power of the Saiyan race!" with Goku saying "Thank you, Father." and then Bardock rambles on about how proud he is of Goku while Frieza is getting hit by the spirit bomb.
He was a savage. A brute. He killed with nary a care and laughed at the weakness of others. Then, when basically slapped in the face with truth, he ignores warnings and has to have help forced on him. Even still he needs his hand forced to act. And then he gets molly whomped by Dodoria, a freaking pink pineapple! And then, like a foolish fool, he confronts the mighty lord Frieza himself knowing full well he is but a flea facing the full brunt of the ocean. He could have saved millions. or even dozens, or maybe just 2 or 3 but instead he let's his pride kill his entire freaking race(basically). Cool guy
And then in the second one, he's a shit bag to those poor people that help him. Not only that, he doesn't fight to save them at all. He just wants revenge. He is not an "avenger", he is just an angry guy out for good old blood lusted revenge.
Tho I will admit, his fight against Dodoria's kill squad was pretty nice. But that's all.

Bardock did warn the other saiyans that Frieza was coming though.. Not his fault they were elitist idiots who wouldn't listen to him because he was a lower class saiyan. And why not go out in a bang against Frieza? He knew he was gonna die either way with nothing he or anyone could do about it.
His character was pretty likable, yeah. Judging him as a whole on based on power level or something is kinda weak.
