http://www.miamiherald.com/news/nation-world/world/americas/cuba/article17866142.htmlWell, well, it would seem for the first time since the Cuban Revolution, the American president is more popular among Cubans than the Castro brothers. According to a recent poll in Cuba, 80 percent of Cubans hold a "positive" or "very positive" view of Obama, against a 50 percent for Fidel and 48 percent for Raul.
The poll also revealed that Cubans are (1) by a huge majority hungry for economic and political change, (2) supportive of the thaw and an end to the embargo, and (3) again by a huge majority, yearning to leave Cuba, mostly for the United States.
I'm going to email Obama and tell him to run for President in Cuba come 2017.

Or give more power and money to Cuba.
Who cares?
Cuba is not a hostile power to speak of. We've traded with people more hostile than them, and they definitely have no military threat to us or any of our allies. They're small and weak and near us and we can probably influence them to side with us and be like us more by trading than not.
It's not even Fidel any more.
Makes me sick to my stomach how Obama is making friends with Iran and Cuba while he turns his back on Israel. What a disgrace. I know this board is filled with naïve pro-Iran and anti- Israel fools so go ahead and bring on the idiotic insults for this post. It won't make what I said any less true so whatever.

We're still, like, incredibly committed to defending Israel- the only real problems are with Netanyahu specifically and him breaking all kinds of protocol for his personal political gain- not Israel's, his. Heck, not-bending-over-backwards doesn't make us less friends, and pushing back a little at times can help prevent Israel from making mistakes. Friends prevent friends from making bad moves.
Also? Making friends with Iran complements being friends with Israel. If we have more pull with them, then they are even less likely to try something with Israel- which isn't too likely to begin with, they aren't one of Israel's neighbors, but still, it'd make it less likely. I'll remind you we've been friends with both Pakistan and India for a long time, and use our power to try and keep things peaceful between them. We also used our friendship with Egypt to make Egypt make peace with Israel. The idea that because we're friends with Israel means we must hate Iran is very short-sighted, even from a helping-Israel perspective.
Making friends with Cuba is completely unrelated because they have no business with Israel one way or another and couldn't care less.

Ok, you're bringing Iran and Israel into a Cuba debate.
You do realize Cuba isn't in the same region as either of them, right?
While you're at it, do you want to discuss what the Falklands have to do with the situation? Maybe disputes in the South China sea?
