So on a near $150 mil budget it's made less than $20 million in box office.

😆

Internationally, yes. Not being released in China won't help.

It's doing Okay domestically though.

Source?

EDIT: Okay so it only made 20 million internationally or what?

So wiki says total it has made is 65 million which eh isn't that good considering it cost $120 million and supposedly it has been said they need to make $500 million to break even.

There's no way it needs 500mill to break even on that budget. Perhaps $300mill-$350mill though.

You are correct it seems:

Also the movie didn't even open at #1 it seems. The Secret Life of Pets, which has already been out since July 8th, is still #1 lol.

So is it me or has this movie f*cking bombed majorly?

The budget doesn't take into account marketing costs. Anyway, the 500 figure comes from the director so I'd say it's pretty accurate.

I know about marketing costs and accounting for commission to distributors and theatres. Still $500mill is excessive for a budget of that size.

The director said it? Really? Damn this has flopped hard.

The director SUPPOSEDLY said 400-500 mil. That is what I heard but I have seen no source and articles do say it's more along the 300-350 million mark.

He says it here: http://www.vulture.com/2016/07/paul-feig-ghostbusters-reboot-c-v-r.html

"A movie like this has to at least get to like $500 million worldwide, and that’s probably low."

Well damn..yeah, something tells me there won't be a sequel lol.

To be fair it could be people were just so excited that they decided to wait one week before seeing the movie, so maybe next week it will earn more?

With the new Star Trek coming, I doubt it.

I still get a "Meh" feeling from the Trek trailer.

I'm not particularly interested in Star Trek either, but it has a massive following.

Oh I love me some Trek, it's just that trailer has me "meh" but who knows.

But yeah it seems this film has barely made half it's own budget back so far. I at least hope they don't *lose* money.

I don't know, they very well could end up losing. With a lackluster opening, the movie needs some staying power, and I think Trek will most likely blow it out of the water. Who knows though..

Damn and the Ghostbusters game on the movie got bad reviews too. At least when Wolverine made a shitty movie they did a decent game. Meh, now I'm in the mood to play some Wolverine and stab some peoples faces off.

I think the Trek films barely make profit with their budgets. They've yet to have one which grosses $500mill.

And given the Meh trailers for the new one I don't expect people to be lining up for it. Although China should help it gross more than the last 2.

Not having China was a big screw up for Ghostbusters.

That is what they need to stop doing, just movies in general. Stop making a movie for $150 million and then ending up so you need $500 million just to break even.

Anybody else here see it?
