That is what they need to stop doing, just movies in general. Stop making a movie for $150 million and then ending up so you need $500 million just to break even.

Yep. Deadpool showed them all how it's done.

You see this is one of the sad things about the Current Movie World. A POS Movie can be a Success due mainly to the vast quantity of people going to see it due to World Wide Release. Potentially a few Billion People can go see almost any movie just for shits&giggles on any given weekend. And then we have little douchebags acting like this makes said POS movie GOOD.

But isn't this movie flopping right now? If its not opening up in China then this movie is pretty much done for which makes me wonder exactly how did this thing cost 120 million to make?

There's no way it needs 500mill to break even on that budget. Perhaps $300mill-$350mill though.

I can't find the link, but yes this does need to make $500 million to be a financial success

Then they must have been aiming for a $100mi OW

apparently something cool happens at the end of this. I have no plans to see it, so someone spoil it for me... in spoiler tags, in case someone else does care.

The cool thing that happens at the end is.

Spoiler

You get to stop watching the movie and leave.

I don't see this surviving. You got Star Trek coming out next week and Bourne the week after. And it's not getting anything from China. This movie is going to sink to the bottom of the BO chart.

Which is where it should be.

You know it's bad when a $150 million movie doesn't even open #1 on it's opening weekend.

After Sony Pictures/Paul Feig's disgusting lashing out at fans, this deserved to fail.

After the phucking SJW-sphere exploded on a quiet, nice guy like James Rolfe for simply saying he is not interested in the movie, this needed to fail.

Amy Pascal is a disgusting racist also, and she was the producer.

This movie is toxic as phuck.

What did they say?

Reminds me of that Warcrap movie only Warcrap had a bigger budget.

not counting marketing, this actually cost $144 million to make..

good article on hollywoodreporter.com

Yeah I stand corrected the budget is indeed like $144 million. They so far still have made under $70 million. I mean when you lose to a movie called "Secret Lives Of Pets" there is a problem.

I legitimately expected this to do badly, but at least be #1 at the box office. I thought nostalgia if anything else would help..but then again nostalgia for this is exactly why so many disliked this horror to begin with.

Apparently a sequel is confirmed.

LoL what the hell is wrong with people? It boggles the mind. Is this like a spite sequel or something?

I'm not a businessman so maybe this is just beyond me but I don't even get it. Why would you order a sequel for something that has done so poorly? I could see maybe if, months after release you looked at all the dvd sales, etc. and decided a sequel was justified..but to do it this way?

From RT, it says that the average rating from all critics is 6.5/10, from top critics 6.3/10 and from the GA it's 3.1/5.

So basically 65, 63 and 62%. like I said, at the very best this is a mediocre movie.

It's just spin, they figure that if they just act like this is a success, then maybe all their SJW allies in the media will run with the narrative and continue to praise the movie while claiming that it's only the evil biased men that don't like it.

...double post

This movie is going to flop. It might make its budget back. I doubt it'll reach $300 million considering the flurry of blockbusters coming out that are going to bury this to the bottom of the chart.

One thing I noticed is that TSLoP was in its second week. Meaning that Ghostbusters in its premiere weekend couldn't even beat a kids movie that was already out a week before it. That's got to suck....

And LOL at the sequel. Probably will be released the same year as TASM3 and Fan4stic 2.
