It's really not sanctimonious to condemn these people taking advantage of the death of someone who was murdered by cops. That is the lowest of the low, and you won't condemn it..why? Because they grew up poor?
I'm also not looking down from some pedestal. Did I grow up in massive poverty? No, but we weren't even considered "middle class" either when it came to how much money my parents earned. I also did not grow up in the nice parts of Chicago, so crime was a thing I was exposed to. But meh, the point is the problem is that people seem to have a problem with people discussing the riots. We had them rioting for days, they called in the friggin national guard. That is a topic worthy of discussion.
Until today, we had no idea what truly happened to Freddy or if the cops would be charged, all we had to focus on really was the ongoing riots. I also think anyone, no matter their income or social status, has the right to look down on people who loot and burn in response to a tragic death. I don't care how poor they grew up, it's not an excuse.

Not that I would ever condone savage violence of any kind but your suggestion is at least a step in the right direction. But do you want to know why they won't do that?
They don't wan to get shot and die.
They don't want to get shot and die? That is great, but NOW they need to go and apply that "don't want to get shot and die" mentality to their interactions with police officers.
