Ra's actually works as a white guy, though. I don't think it's the same thing.

Well it's true. Many people from Arab countries look white. Even in the comics, he's drawn a lot of the time to just be a dark haired white guy.

Hell, your point about Bane is far more valid than any about Ra's, imo.

Man of Steel was "bad"? I think not. I loved it but then I've pretty much loved all the Superman films except for Superman 3 and 4 which weren't all that great but still enjoyed even those.

Uncle Sam looks more Arabic than Henri Ducard.

Either way. This happens all the time and no one bats an eye.

But as soon as a black gets the role of the white character the slack-jaws start crying "white genocide."

I won't buy anything else from DC or Marvel until I see a half british half spanish Constantine/ Doom living in Argentina.

**** them.

But you were not skeptical towards the choice of casting a white guy as Ra's al Ghul in Batman Begins?

I didn't say I hated colorblind casting. I loved Michael Clark Duncan's Kingpin, and after the Superman Animated Series I wouldn't mind seeing Lex Luthor played by a black actor (anyone but Jesse Eisenberg, lol).

As for R'as Al Ghul, it is a shame that they took a rare Middle Eastern role away, but Liam Neeson did a good job of it. Besides--that was an intentionally surprising casting call: it was supposed to trick the audience who expects the character to be Middle Eastern.

Some people outside of here argue that only background characters are OK to change color/race, but no, no don't touch the forefront characters, they stay white...

That's the argument iv been hearing outside of the forum and to some extent here.

I myself have no problem with forefront characters staying white, but I can understand where others are coming from. Look at the Avengers MCU currently.

Cap.America, Thor, Iron Man, Hulk, Hawkeye, Blk.Widow, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch and if Peter Parker shows up then you got a ( Its all right when its all white theme going) also Hulk is a white character even if he turns green.

I mean if there's a big KKK rally going on the front steps of your local courthouse and shit gets nasty between the KKK group and the protesters and the Avengers MCU team I just mentioned shows up...

I bet the KKK would feel very safe or that the tide had just turned to there favor..

Anyways i'm for making new forefront characters to join the more established forefront white characters.

The audience that does know about Ra's Al Ghul being middle eastern, but not about his odd facial hair, that also happens to not be genre savvy enough to realize that saving Liam Neeson will be a big deal?

I suppose it did trick that one guy who fits that description.

This Ghul guy looks pretty white to me.

A white guy was also cast as Bane (who is hispanic in the comics) in TDKR.

Whining about a character's race being changed in a different medium is just that: whining.

Who gives a **** that Aquaman will have darker skin than his Aryan counterpart in the comics? It doesn't make the film worse. The film in all likelihood turning out to be as bad as Man of Steel makes the movie worse.

👆

Anyone who disagrees with this is a racist.

Nobody is saying white-washing is fine either, though. At least not in here.

Listen to the message this proud white man is trying to convey.

I'll say it again - White people dominated comics for too long, ignoring the diversity of North America and the fact that minority members read comics as well. Some correction was needed and overdue; we can debate about how far they should go with it, is all.

My only problem with The Karate Kid remake was the fact it was set in China with a Chinese teacher, so why would it be about Karate and not Kung Fu? Because it was all about name recognition for audiences, despite the illogical premise.

Thats no excuse for changing an already existing characters race. MAKE A NEW ONE! A characters race is apart of their archetype. Hancock didn't remake superman with a black man, it told an entirely new story.
