The White Palace is a *****.

Wondering if you could get through the main campaign without the shade cloak. At least the archive dreamer has a well hidden alternate path there through acid.

Shade Cloak's invaluable for farming those Great Husk Sentry's though.

As much as I love Hollow Knight, I am going to cite a criticism.

The White Palace demands precision platforming. But these are not precision mechanics.

Leaping, for example. You tap it, and barely hop. Hold longer, and leap high. Hold less longer, and leap somewhere in between.

And therein lies the problem. Its too easy to hop not enough, or hop a little too much, and hit a buzzsaw on what should be an easy leap.
.
Another problem is wall hopping. The way you fasten onto the wall isn't very tight, and you can end up sliding down a wall, or being away from it and dropping like a stone.

Hardly deal breakers, as you the palace isn't required for any of the main content. Which is a good thing, as this is a masterpiece when it isn't trying to be like Super Meat Boy.

95% of the White Palace was perfectly fair, imo. And although I'm glad that the hardcore platforming was isolated to one area, I'm also glad that it exists.

Couldn't stand any of the platforming areas, tbh. Always hated platformers in general, always missed the jumps. That Greenpath area to Nailmaster Sheo had me tearing my hair out, I'd keep timing the nail hop just a tiny bit short and having to start all over.

The Palace is essentially that for me, extended.

And objectively speaking, you have to admit there's a difference in how Super Meat Boy plays, and how Hollow Knight plays. I don't struggle in the former as much, because I never feel like I have to struggle with the controls in the precision areas.

That's just me though, I know plenty claim they had no problem with the White Palace.

Anyways, I'm just glad I'm past the area with those bugs that popped open every time you hit them. That spot was by far the most frustrating in the entire area, because those things would drift out of reach or knock you into spikes for two masks.

The spot I'm stuck at currently, is the side of the wall with buzzsaw sticking out on the sides, between those spear looking things popping out horizontally. That's where my run falls apart, I'm not sure if I'm expected to nail bounce off something, or if a well timed leap will let me proceed.

Hoping this is the home stretch. Now I have to climb up the part with pokers going up the canal. Its really hard timing them because the distance between traps is small enough where you easily slide back down into the last one, or overshoot into the next one.

When this is over, going straight to Trial of the Fool just to see if everyone claiming its much harder then White Palace is full of it.

I broke one gamepad trying to beat White Palace. 🙂

So I'm at about 43% completion, after over 60 hours.

I can go for another 60 easy. And I just may at the pace I'm going. 🙂

I also don't have Hiveblood.

Took a looot of resets.

Borderlands 3, Among US, and Overwatch

Finished the White Palace. Found the Path of Pain, no way am I doing that.

Maybe after I do everything else in the game first.

Now onto something I can really enjoy: Nightmare King Grimm.

And he is glorious. Everything a true final boss is meant to be.

I found it way harder than the palace, yeah.

I've done the Path of Pain. 🙂

So that makes two people in the world? 🙂

I'm impressed. What system, controller, and how many did you destroy doing so?

Still working on Nightmare King Grimm.

Love his entrance.

I almost have a workable strategy. Hit him once or twice when he does the firebats, once or twice in the air, shade dash through his two charges and double jump in case he zigzags into you.

Using Joni's Blessing, Fragile Heart, Lifeblood Heart. No sense in damage if I can't learn to avoid damage.

Right now I'm aboug 60-65% on avoiding hits, but he does so much damage even one screwup out of every success means you don't last long.

And no, I don't have Sharp Shadow. Wish I did, but I do not.

Sharp shadow doesn't make a big difference. You're not likely to down Grimm until you master his windows anyways.

The upside to that, though, is that once you've beaten him for the first time? From then on, you can do it in your sleep. He's one of the easier bosses to kill on ascended/radiant difficulty.

Legend of Dragoon.

I'd forgot how engaging that game is, the additions add so much depth to the battles.

LoD was an amazing game.

PC, at the time I think I was using a 360 controller. Only did it one time, and can't speedrun it in a single go with no damage taken like some freaks of nature.
