Naw, he's one of the easier ones. Lost Kin might be the hardest of the dream bosses, though.
Failed Champion is still crushing me, even with Quickslash, Stalwart Shell, and Fragile Strength.
Which is all the notches I have room for right now. And no, I don't have the phase dash yet. 🙂
He does get knocked out of his armor way easier now, so I can probably grind through the hard way. Or, I'm considering trying out the charm that reduces cool down on Dream Nail, and seeing if I can fill up Soul on his armor, since normal hits on it don't give any.
Got that son of a *****.
The Failed Champion. I tried the Shamon Stone and Spell Twister, Joni's Blessing and other combinations. In the end 9 notches meant I simply couldn't afford an ideal loadout, so I settled on Fragile Strength, Long Nail, Quick Slash, and Sprint Master. With the Thrice Upgraded Nail, I had the damage output. With seven masks though, I couldn't afford many mistakes.
But its done. Now I can focus on beating Grey Knight Imbecile and the dream form of Broken Vessel. Then I should have enough for the Dream Nails final form.
Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA.
I couldn't get into Ys Origins, but I hope someday to come back to it.
Star Ocean: First Departure R was a very fun experience and I'm glad I played it, it was kind of easy, but it was still a very well-made and fun game. I enjoyed the story, characters, and combat very much, which pretty much seals my choice to buy Second Evolution on PSP, which I was gonna do eventually regardless, but still.

You could also go for the Dung Defender or Grimm.
Ran across DD on a waterway expedition. Not a hard fight, but really fun. 🙂
Went all the way to Isma's Tears.
Right now I'm methodically re-exploring areas, trying to figure out where the other two Dreamers are, or how to bypass those black barriers. Or even just to figure out what the Elegant Key is for.
Got to laugh at how I could have waded through acid pools I went to such pains to pogo hop across. But I guess it was good practice for other areas of the game.
I also got the Kings Crest at Kingdoms Edge. Another thing I have no idea what to do with, but know it must be important to the plot.
Also been putting off the Hive.
Found the Queens Garden.
So I only need to take the tram through the infected crossroads full of exploding things that charge you, into Fog Canyon with all the jellyfish, past the fly Mantis with those flying hula hoops and spike shooting things, over the trap platforms with thorns everywhere that I fall into constantly, and try not to get hit once.
Yeah, that shouldn't be frustrating at all.
Maybe I can clear out some of the enemies first, hopefully they only respawn when you hit bench and not if you leave an area.

It might also be wise to figure out where specifically the flower needs to be taken to.
Beat the second Fools Arena to earn that third pale ore. Then fixed up my fragile strength, finished up the Grimm Child quest, and now I'm facing big Grimm himself.
Also accidentally learned how to get Unbreakables. Panicked a bit when it got eaten.
Got to he honest, at 15,000 geo each it's probably less hassle to just go to Leg Biter every time it breaks then grind up the cash. Fragile Strength isn't really worth the space for longer boss fights, compared to Quick Focus, Quickslash, Long Nail, or especially Quicksprint and Grubsong.
So Gimm Child waste two notches.
That leaves me with 7. That means a sub optimal loadout.
Quickslash - 3.
Joni's blessing - 4.
Or
Quickslash
Unbreakable Strength
Sprintmaster
Anotther idea is
Quickslash
Quick Focus
Sprintmaster
But I think healing might be the wrong choice here. If you can't balance offense and survivability, go all in on offense.
