You don't see a lot of triple AAA titles (I think....) that are like that anymore.

Doom 3 does have it's issues...mainly the weapons feel off but the complete total war on atmosphere is well appreciated.

But if you like Doom, for the record the source code is legally free in Freedoom 1 and 2. Only trouble is, the sprites aren't part of the package, as those are copyrighted.

The caveat being mods like Brutal Doom take the sprites and retool them for heads exploding and arm damage and such, and end up replacing the Freedoom sprites, meaning there is no difference between Freedoom and Doom for those mods.

And yeah, I know Doom 1 and 2 are so cheap anyone would just buy it, I just like letting people know. 🙂

I played a mod version with Freedoom as the base. Seemed fun, but definitely different then PC Doom.

Haha. I bought a mid-tier computer to play Half Life and Doom 3. A good ol ATI 8800. I didn't know it at the time but Doom 3 had some weird artifacts that I thought were from the game itself.

Turns out after I replayed it again a few years after...it was my video card that was defective. Oh well...I had a ton of fun.

It's also a look back into what games used to be...before the introduction of weapon upgrades, character skills and etc (not a criticism).

Doom 3 has this really cool system where you can interact with computer screens and not a lot of games do that...it brings in a sense of immersion. But..I wonder if a n upgrade system would of killed that feeling.

Doom 64 is cheap as chips on it's own with the recent release from Nightdive, Unless of course that you're a tightarse.

I was playing the mod well before the official re-release.

If I did decide to play it again, it would be because I want to use my save, instead of starting another new game.

By that point I'd killed so many dogs I didn't give a **** about killing them in a game too.

I mean...not that.

I always felt most of the characters in the Last of Us series are ****ing dinks anyways...and never understood why people dislike Abby so much. Joel wasn't that great of a person anyways. Same with Ellie. The whole situation in that series is about how ****ing brutal it is.

Just like I'll buy Streets of Rage 4, even though there's a really good fan Remake out there.

That's one thing companies never understood, nobody even wanted Megablocks. They wanted Lego's. Fan games will never, ever be competion for the real thing, because they AREN'T the real thing. Even if they seem to be in every way that counts.

I personally dislike Abby because she's horribly inconsistent as a character, and she's supposed to have this big redemption arc that falls really ****ing flat.

Plus a bunch of other small bits and pieces.

On topic, Hitman 3. Still enjoying it.

Fingers are actually aching a bit from playing "Mania" in Streets of Rage.

Those Sony PS2 controllers might be too hard on me now, maybe time to find something less stiff.

That, or give up games that require massively spamming combos for over an hour.

OG Resident Evil is on Game Pass now, I think it's the Director's Cut version, didn't play all off that but I remember things being slightly different to the 1st version and Barry doesn't give his famous 'Master Of Lockpicking' line.

Unlocked Mr. X in Streers of Rage Remake. And he is hilarious.

Carrying around a gun to a street fight. That's why he's the boss.

Axel is the worst character in Streets of Rage Remake.

All three versions.

Got to give them credit for staying true to the franchise, he's always sucked. 👆

I always liked using him as a secondary, but I guess his range (or lack thereof) hurts him.
