This is all the Streets of Rage you'll ever need.
Played it religiously for a week. The game really opens up after the first completion, and getting access to unlocks like Shiva, Roo, Mr. X and alternate Axel/Blaze/Skates, and an "AI Buddy" mode which is just awesome.
I absolutely HATE the side quests in Mass Effect 3.
Hope you like searching every corner of the Citidel after every mission, if you don't want to miss a side quest.
Enjoy searching every corner of a samey looking map mission for loot, several times over, yet still missing the quest critical dog tags right in that one spot.
But at least you can blow a grand buying them from Spectre ops. Kiss the Black Wdow Sniper Rifle or other cool Spectre weapons goodbye.
And do you like Rex? Are you banging out his missions one after another. Then side quests aren't a problem anymore, you just stumbled across the "point of no return".
Wheeee.
Honestly, I... sort-of agree with you. I don't like that they're time-limited, even if I understand why they are. I don't like, after each big story mission, having to go back to every single person I've previously talked to (and whatever new ones have popped up). Last time I played it, I literally sat with the wiki's side mission page open beside me.
All that said, though? I ****ing love Mass Effect 3, so I don't mind it as much as I would with other games... even if the ending is legitimately terrible, even with their extended cut.

I normally don't do this, but I'm using a guide on the side stuff.
Its not like they're brain teasers, or have any real gameplay elements to them, I'm just cutting through the bs.
I'm at the start of act II with the baby Reaper, so I may earn enough money for a Spectre weapon yet.
I would have by now, but chose to max out the Scorpion gun, the sniper rifle that fires like a semi auto combat rifle (Forget the name, you know the one) and the other semi auto combat rifle you get from the Grissim Academy mission (Jack was my love interest. Wasn't sure she'd import since I romanced her up post end game, but it stuck)
