The Riddler trophies are one of the many reasons why those games are enjoyed.
It's probably one of the biggest strengths.

Never been one for collectables.

Predator combat is starting to hook me. A HUGE learning curve to this game, I keep getting caught and shot up right now.

I'm with cdtm on this one. As the franchise went on the sheer number of riddler trophies got out of hand and beyond tedious. Especially with City. It was 300 or there abouts. Granted there was less in Knight but they were way more complicated to obtain which meant the time spent doing them was comparable at best.

Asylum had the right amount. 100 of any collectible is the upper level of enjoyable and 300 is blatantly just trying to prolong the listed playable hours to make people think they're getting good value.

Admittedly they weren't as boring as Assassin's Creed feathers and Codex pages or whatever.

Not as bad as the first AC game with the flags.

Oh lord, Assassins Creed side quests is nothing but grind.

That lookout was nice and cinematic, I'm sure it won't get old by the fifteenth time.

Still worth going to the lookouts. Reveals the map more unless you like wondering around blind.

Odyssey was the best for it. Helping random people quests

"My neighbour has stolen a pot on flour from my house. Can you help me?"

"Do you want me to get the flour back?"

"No. I want you to STAB HIM TO DEATH!!!"

"Ok"

Goes and does the completely unjustified murder

"Your man is dead"

I don't mind most of Assassins Creed collect-a-thons. I think the newer games do a pretty decent job of it.

Way better than what was in Dragon Age 3.

That being said, the Batman games are some of the best. They kept you engage 90% of the time and were fun to do. It was like "how do I get that...." and then you get an "aha" moment when you figure it out....or when you unlock new gear.

Unity i felt they went overboard on the collectibles.

I never played it. That's probably 1-2 I haven't played, the other being Rogue.
But I wouldn't be surprised though....the later Assassins Creeds were a bit much (for me at least)

I can understand the negativity for the last three but I always felt they did the best job with the map/world/environment and attaching it to a gear system.

I missed a few out. Black Flag, Rogue, Unity and Syndicate. Tried to play the latter 2 but just couldn't get into them. Never bothered with BF because the ship combat was what I disliked the most from AC3.
Preferred the series since its RPG style reboot. Especially Origins. They all have their problems due to being hastily made with far too many money grubbing attempts like xp boosters.

I enjoyed Black Flag, it was like a modern version of Sid Meier's Pirates, a game I have fond memories of.

I also prefer the RPG style reboot, Odyssey being my favourite. Probably the only AC game where I did most of the quests, gear and other things.....

I'm not a huge fan of the RPG elements they added, but I found Origins to be pretty enjoyable. Not as much as Black Flag or say, Unity (which for me has some of the best world design and stealth in the series), but I still found enough there to like it and play it the whole way though.

I think if they combined elements from each of the 3 they'd have something excellent. The Predator Bow from Origins was absolutely OP but still made standing outside fortresses and guided arrow sniping every single Roman inside fun as fúck. Bayek was probably the best protagonist of the 3.

I liked the Sparta v Athens stuff in Odyssey as well as the mythical elements like the Herculean feats and Atlantis. Had the worst characters of the 3 though. Was also simply too big. You'd grind and grind and grind through all the icons on the map and feel like you were making zero progress.

Valhalla had the 2nd best protagonist and the best additional character arks. Ceolbert's in particular was a very good and impactful story.

Never heard someone talk down this game so hard.

Is he nitpicking?

In fairness, some of those environmental gripes really are annoying in games. Non existent blockages preventing you from getting somewhere. As well as the blatant spelling out of what the player needs to do rather than figuring things out for themselves. Last game I played with that was Forbidden West where if you went more than a few seconds without doing what you had to do next in a mission, Aloy would blurt out some line to prompt you into doing it.

Why do people care about youtubers...what do they know that I don't.

I think Alien Isolation is one of the best horror games out there. The AI is fantastic and the sense of dread is incredible.

Nemesis for the Resident Evil 3 remake should've had the same sort of AI as the Xenomorph from that game.

Alien Isolation is very good. I never did finish it though because I thought it was a bit too long and it started to drag.

So gameplay wise, does Witcher 3 essentially play the same as Witcher 2? In terms of combat and general gameplay?

Only real difference is bigger world, more to do, open ended?

I don't remember Witcher 2 but the third game is better in every single way.
