Game of Thrones is popular as hell, it is hard-R.
We are discussing the films. I just hope the series is good and if it's NuTrek I'll definitely try to watch but old trek is so awful to me it'd have to be really different to pique my interest.

You have to say that especially considering we are talking about the films.

I will probably be in the Abramsverse. You can avoid pissing off old trekkies by doing this.

Yeah, I think so too since the old trek has run its course or so it would seem.

I want the Borg dammit.

If the franchise keeps going it'll definitely happen. What the paramount executive talked about sounded awesome and something I am all for.

No news yet about what the plot is about but studio exec Marc Evans said something interesting about where he wants the sequels to focus on. According to a report by iDigital Times, the President of the Motion Picture Group for Paramount said in an interview, "I often think about the areas of the Star Trek universe that haven't been taken advantage of,' Paramount's Evans says. 'Like, I'll be ridiculous with you, but what would Star Trek: Zero Dark Thirty look like? Where is the SEAL Team Six of the Star Trekuniverse? That fascinates me."

That sounds awesome and this news really has me excited for the NuTrek universe which has become mine across MY Internet exploits.

Was more excited about Pegg's and Linn's previous "return to roots" comment, but a future military/action-centric Star Trek could work if done right (writer(s)/director).

They could use this alt timeline centered around the backdrop of a full-out Klingon/Federation war; that could definitely work. Or possibly even the Borg with great writing, bringing together the various races to fight a common enemy. I'm emailing Paramount today.

This is what needs to occur. This Nutimeline is superior in every way to the older timeline. Just compare the Khan's of each universe and we see NuKhan is vastly superior to the original timeline. We also see Nero's acts of war made the entire galaxy prepare for serious conflicts thus seeking no and superior ways to defend themselves.

I'm personally hoping Idris is a Klingon. He has already stated it takes two hours to apply his prosthetics.

You might be getting a little whacky there, pally.

Yeah, Idris may very well be Klingon. He'd be awesome as one.

Paramont better listen to my ideas though.

NuTrek is more formidable than older Trek. It's pretty much confirmed.

The previous screenwriter already set Into Darkness as a backdrop for an all out Klingon/Federation war so they are very aware as well as the desire to see the Borg. I've also voiced my opinion that to see the Borg against this Trek crew would be a welcome change. I only feel like we have one more possible film for this crew before we hit the next generation crew or another crew if it continues to sell well.

Actually, no. eg The Enterprise and Kirk in the TOS did some ridiculous things, but that's what you get with a cheesy 70's show. Not that "more formidable" should be a deciding factor. I want a great story and series, I really don't care if X character or ship can beat up Y character or ship.

I don't know, most of the crew is relatively young, I could see 2 or maybe even 3 more films if this film and the sequel does well. I think $$$ earned will delegate how long this crew last more so than age/time up to a certain point.

Having said that, they also very well could just reboot again and go with another Kirk in say 5ish years.

That's where you misinterpret what I do want. Both NuTrek films had great stories and superior acting. Original Kirk looked laughable as did the original Khan in the space seed episode. Fight choreography makes that fight look awful in today's times. Now I get that you loved original Kirk but that fight looked pathetic.

I'd like to see a few more than four films but with the years in between the films I don't see it likely.

Rebooting again in that short of a timespan would be a bad idea especially given the success of the first two films. Best bet would be to proceed and do a Star Trek next generation especially since it's widely accepted by the original Trekkers already.

I wasn't "interpreting what you want", my comment had nothing to do with that. TOS Kirk was superhuman at times, as I said, it was a cheesy 70's show. I commented solely on your "formidable" point.

I do, the crew is young for the most part and aging along with the series isn't new to Star Trek. But again, I think this will rely on $$$ earned or if some exec at paramount just doesn't write them off using "younger/fresher" as the sell.

TNG alt timeline might be a harder sell for films, since it wouldn't really have an explanation film/scene that Kirk Alt had. Not saying it couldn't work, I just don't see it right now. But if so, I say Tom Hardy as alt Picard, you heard it here first.

By watching his movements both he and Khan were not skilled in hand to hand fighting. If you call that a highly skilled fight then you're lying for bias. Neither were formidable as their movements and skills were awful.

Another film will probably take a few more years and I doubt they will speed another one out unless it does exceptionally well.

That would be an easier sell than a new reboot in under five years. The Trekkers would be pissed off and most of the casual fans would probably feel like it's too soon.

Perhaps but only time will tell. I'd personally not want him cast in the role.

Hardy would be my pick for Picatd

Come on, dude. I'm not even talking about Space Seed(which was epic cheese). Just letting you know that TOS Kirk was superhuman at times, cos 70's cheese-factor. Maybe we should just move on.

Speed of films depends partly on the success of the prior one. But these films are moving along fairly quick. 2009, 2013 now 2016.

Trekkers and Trekkies won't be pissed if you give them a good story and characters.

Who would be your choice for an alt Picard?

It was a lame fight. Let's move on but after we both agree it was awful and displayed no skill. 7 years for three films and considering Chris Pine's success I doubt they will spin it more than one more film for this crew unless it's super successful. I hope the third film just makes ridiculous money to see more than just the four NuTrek films I see as likely.

Michael Fassbender.
