They should aim for a winter release date next time and a war with fleets of ships fighting each other. Which has never happened in a Trek film before.
Originally posted by Darth ThorYou have already made it known you don't care about the Kelvin timeline and cheered its downfall for Beyond. Don't try to act like you care about the new films future now.
Happened plenty on DS9. The Dominion War was the best of Trek Wars alongside the The Best of Both Worlds.

Old school Trekkies don't like the new films I get it. Robtard hates the new Khan loves his old shitty Khan. I get it. Give me The Kelvin timeline which easily has the best films of the entire property.
This isn't always true. I love all the Trek tv series. Yes even Voyager, though they make some bizarrely stupid decisions on that show. Things I would think even a child wouldn't do, but I digress.
I hate the old school Trek films. I don't even really like Wrath of Khan. So for me the best films were the recent ones, specifically Into Darkness.
I think people who grew up loving Trek, but hating Star Wars..are probably the type who would be most likely to dislike the Abrams films.
Originally posted by SurturIf by Star Wars you mean summer blockbusters then yes. Aside from basic parallels like spaceships and orphan boys, the feel of New Trek is very diff from original Star Wars. SW was always more fantasy to me
One thing that I've pointed out before was that these new Trek films are basically like Star Wars, just repackaged under the Trek brand.I also feel like one of the stories from the Star Wars universe that would be best told in the more "Trek" kind of way..would be the Thrawn trilogy.

Also wait just to be clear, in the episode of TNG where they lose their memories..Riker bangs Ensign Ro, right?
Obviously
Riker's banged some hotties..
But then there was that episode where he went for that Man-Woman. Kinda ruined his streak.

Dr. Strange has a bit of a SW vibe to it. Well SW mixed with Matrix.

Even the directors themselves talk about the "SW's moments" in the films. Like in the first film from 2009 when you see Kirk on the motorcycle roll up to the big starfleet ship..they are saying for them, that was their "Luke looking at suns on Tatooine" scene.
Star Wars had a direct effect on these films and the people who made them.

I'm just telling you what the guys behind the film flat out said, "How can we do Star Wars with Trek".
The pacing of the recent Trek films matches up a lot more with Star Wars as opposed to other Trek stuff.

Rented it from Redbox and was highly impressed. The special effects for Yorktown, the explosion of Krall's swarm, and when Kurk, Jayla, Spock and them assaulted Krall's base on that planet. The cast's chemistry is probably the films greatest strength, and their dialogue really works. Absolutely stellar acting from everyone in the film. I thought Krall was a solid villain, though I would've liked to have seen some more of his motivation for his hatred of the Federation. He could've used a bit more dialogue, or maybe some more showings of his Captain log or something to benefit his character.
Overall an 8/10 and easily one of the better Scifi films from this year. Roland Emmerich should take notes from Lin on how to make the next Independence day better!
