Hey I'm guilty of it myself. I liked Suicide Squad when it came out. But now that it's available to buy I've found I have no desire to buy it.

Honestly though I can't think of a single reason anyone would praise this film based on its own merit.

But audiences seem to have spoken out at the box office anyway. Abrams was building up a popular franchise name with this new series of films, but this one seems to have reversed that.

I'm confident though if they make a good sequel it will build up again.

Who said this was a great film ? People are just decimating your unfair critique in criticizing Kirk alone just because he had a character arc you didn't appreciate. You even managed to bring up your all time hated film Iron Man 3. You're pathetic and need to let this shit go.

Suicide Squad always stunk. You're an idiot who fell for this superficially sub par film. Success doesn't equate to quality you idiot. Abrams is great but you had no issues bashing TFA you hypocrite. You've made it clear you hate TFA, Iron Man 3, and Star Trek Beyond. You're a hater who takes his opinion as a fact. Get the **** out of this thread.

I enjoyed it well enough. Make no mistake, I didn't think it was great. But also not as bad as some other people seemed to feel. I don't really put much weight into what critics say, or box office results. Opinions are subjective, some films have more mass appeal than others. etc. So, I just look at how much personal enjoyment I get from something. For example, I really enjoyed Warcraft, even though the critics hated it, and it only made good money in China.

Beyond did have an absolutely shit marketing campaign though. Most people in my area weren't even aware that it was playing until I mentioned I had gone to see it. And I only went to watch it in like the 2nd week of its release. Their response was generally, "Oh, there's a new Star Trek movie?". In comparison, you couldn't miss the Suicide Squad marketing (which was f***** everywhere). Another example is Deadpool. Yes, that one was actually a good one, but I doubt it would have gotten as much attention as it did, and done as well as it did, if it wasn't for a really solid and inventive marketing campaign. I don't know about other people, but that one got me so hooked that I would actually make a point of looking for the latest clip, poster etc. they would release.

Also, many of the people I spoke to, who were aware of it, felt like things already took a dip with Into Darkness (and I feel the same, myself), which killed some their enthusiasm to go see another one. It had some good characters (I did actually like Khan, regardless of the hate he seems to get from a lot of posters), but it felt like they went a bit overboard with the homages. For me, personally, the 2009 film stands head and shoulders above the other two.

Also, I always thought IM3 was shit. Even as I was walking out of the cinema, right after watching it. It's not an Iron Man movie. It's a buddy comedy set on an Iron Man backdrop. The friggin' oneshot about the Mandarin was better than the actual film that featured the character.

I'm just laughing because I'm re-watching old episodes of the original series and in one episode Kirk shows less emotion when finding out that a planet with billions of people have died than he does in his "woe is me" opening dialogue of this film.

Also just finished a different episode where they force Spock and Kirk to dance this jig and sing "I'm twiddly dee, I'm twiddly dum!"

Surtur quit being so odd.

Quit being so young... 😉

Wait till he watches one where Kirk has to kiss the pretty black lady.

OHHHHMUHHHHJEEEEEZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!!

There's a lot of weird shit between all that greatness.

That's what makes it great. 😉

At one point the midget rides around on top of Kirk as Kirk pretends to be a horse. He is going "Neeeehh!" during it.

Kirk gets him back though, he owns that f*cking dwarf though in the end. At one point he says "oh where I come from we don't care what your race or size is!".

Cut to the end of the episode. Kirk says the dwarf can come back with them, so at the end he goes: "Hey McCoy, I have a little surprise for you!". Get it? Little? Cuz Kirk is a dick.

As is Shatner in real life. Just a prick.

He truly was. He counted every single word in the script to make sure he had the most, and would routinely steal lines from other cast members that he wanted. Or just cut out their dialogue all together if they dared have more words.

Btw Shatner also encountered a UFO in the desert, true story.
