Urm... Because he's the easiest to make fun of maybe... The daft change in his mood and personality is just too easy to pick on. And given a lot of the fun from the previous films came from Kirk, that clearly did put a downer on this film.
That aside there was a few good scenes between Spock and Bones, but that's it.
There was very little to enjoy with the rest of the characters.

Sorry, and it's fine if you feel differently, but I find that to be a rather poor reason to focus on him in response to a post made about the characters in general.

I enjoyed the bits with Scotty as well. I felt like Sulu and Uhura were a bit underused, but I didn't have a problem with the cast, overall. Especially compared to something like Suicide Squad, where Rick Flag was a mopey, useless d***head, Katana, Croc and Capt Boomerang did virtually nothing, and El Diablo was also little more than an emo 5th while up until the last 20 minutes of the film. Pretty much only Harley and DS shined (and Batman, for the 5 minutes or so he was in the film). And Waller and her plan was just dumb. And while Krall was not the greatest villain, neither was Enchantress (and her weird belly dancing routine).
I personally wouldn't put it above Rogue One, but many of the criticisms leveled at Beyond can easily be thrown at Suicide Squad.

Because honestly, miserable Kirk is all I think of when you say Star Trek Beyond. Which means there was no other stand out.
And Kirk put the fun into the last 2 films. Stupid character decision. And there was no character arc to get him there either. He just began the film as depressed.

Well all the characters in Rogue 1 were miserable A-Holes. So I guess then is should have worked for Beyond too.

No other standout for you. That's not all I think about when someone mentions Beyond. I think about the swarm ship attack (which was straight-up brutal), the interaction of other characters, the fight scenes with Jaylah, and the Yorktown station (which I thought looked great, visually), just to name a few examples off the top of my head. Not everyone looks for the same values in the films they watch. Something you know. And I disagree on Kirk. They did provide some reasoning as to why he felt the way he did (granted, they could have fleshed it out more thoroughly), but there certainly wasn't nothing to it.

Never said that, but when multiple people expressed that they felt the one was better than the other, or that they liked Beyond and thought it was good, you said "people should stop deluding themselves". There is not liking something, and then there is basically having a go at someone else for liking it (which is not something I would expect from you). And even when compared to what is considered a better film than Suicide Squad, Rogue One, again, can say a lot of similar things about the characters and villain. Krennic was not very memorable IMO, and most of the Rogue One crew were dour, had very little interesting interaction with each other, and very little character development throughout the film. Yet I still found the film, as a whole, entertaining. I was never trying to make other people "feel better" about things I didn't consider that big of a problem myself.

Cause I just feel like it's one of those films where people just accept it at first, but will see later how much of a sub-par film it was. Kind of like Iron Man 3. There were many praising it at first, but over time those voices died out.
Hey I'm guilty of it myself. I liked Suicide Squad when it came out. But now that it's available to buy I've found I have no desire to buy it.
Honestly though I can't think of a single reason anyone would praise this film based on its own merit.
But audiences seem to have spoken out at the box office anyway. Abrams was building up a popular franchise name with this new series of films, but this one seems to have reversed that.
I'm confident though if they make a good sequel it will build up again.
