To be fair.. That's really how Z Goku has been since the start. He wanted Vegeta to live because fight again. Kept trying to let Freeza live to fight again. And who cares about power... Black is dead. It does't change the fact Black was the most prodigius fighter and much upgraded version of Goku.
His mere clones were crushing Goku and Vegeta.

I am also skeptic about Gohan. I would also like him to see being a fighter for some time... but just not case for Gohan. I would like to see him surpassing Goku, but then they would likely just sent him to school again 🙂

Nah... far from it. If Gohan is now above his mystic levels, its because he had secret training and would again reach his form, shape. Gohan was only shown against Tagoma in DBS... and Gohan vs Tagoma<<<Gohan in Perfect Cell saga.

Always found that part of his character admirably heroic. The thing with the Zen-Oh's and universes though... Ugh.
And apparently Toriyama didn't want him to actually be heroic anyway. also I have been watching tons of MasakoX vids on YouTube haha

Goku had a sickening sense of honor bordering on stupidity. Such as giving Cell a fair fight and not finishing Majin Buy despite him not knowing if Gotenks could beat him. But never was it so bad as to kill a universe for his own entertainment, there is literally no alterior motive, he just wants to fight. And there aren't a whole lot of examples of that in his character before Super.

👆I've been watching him as well actually, here and there. He's the voice for abridged Goku I believe? Or at least sounds like him. But yeah, I can buy what he said about the effect of Goku hitting his head as a child starting to wear off, if nothing else. Toriyama may have not wanted him to be heroic necessarily, but it was better that way IMO in Z's case.
And Goku is becoming one step away from how Vegeta was. Fighting just for the sake of it. Without the wanton killing of weaker people. It's Making sense his nature is coming back. He didn't change like Vegeta and because he began caring for someone. I do hope the whole Goku becomes the villain theory is just that though.

Last few posts nailed it. Sparing Vegeta and Cell were irresponsible/nieve. Continually egging on Zeno is Groo tier stupidity.
He SAW Zeno destroy an entire multiverse on a whim. He should realize how dangerous they are, but still acts surprised when they casually decide to erase universes.
And he KEEPS.TALKING.TO.HIM.
Even Groo himself understood concepts like danger and when to call it quits.
Not seeing how Goku sparing others (in Z) is any worse than comic superheroes continually choosing not to kill their worst enemies. Of course there's gonna be some repercussions to being heroic/wanting to do the right thing, even though part of it in Goku's case was wanting another sparring partner.
