👆 When I saw Cell on the front cover of the most recent chapter, I got ****ing hyped.

Then I realized it was just a Mr. Satan gag. ugh

Zeno's not that bright though.

"Ooh, Goku is summoning us!"

"How come? How come??!"

"Lets go see!" *Poof*w

*Appears in ring* "Hey pal, it would be a big help if you could erase those other guys!"

"Ok, ok!"

"Anything for you, Goku!"

*Erases the ToP*

*Boss angel* "Oh my, it looks like universe 7 is the last one left! Universe 7 wins!"

"But that's cheat--- *Erased, along with last two universes*

So, what happens if Goku presses the Zeno button during the ToP?

Can he talk Zeno into erasing everyone for him?

No. Just before the ToP started, Goku asked if he should try to talk Zen-Oh out of erasing the losing universes, and this was Whis' response:

...Not to mention that the Zen-Ohs are loving the Tournament WAY too much to stop it prematurely.

"But we're that would end the tournament!"

"That would end the fun!"

"Hey, you wanna see something even better? Something more fun then this lousy tournament?"

"Ooooh, tell us, tell us!"

"It's right here, in my hand."

"Let us see! Let is see!"

"I can't while fighting, it's too dangerous."

*Erase the ToP*

It's Goku. He could pretty much have Whis's job if he wanted it. 😛

Goku is the only one who can beat Zeno.

"Hey buddy, you're strong! I bet you can erase anything!"

"Hee hee! Anything, anything!"

"Except yourself, I bet!"

"Lets see!" *Self erases*

"Whoops.."

Wild theory by me....the surprise u3 has is an amalgamation of all the top dogs in the TOP, like jiren, kelfla, goku, 17 and 18 etc. I say that because they have been observing the whole time. And they are robots that, presumably, can adapt and mimic. Its going to take golden frieza and all of universe 11 to take it down. Just imo.

Almost like cell games.

Around 2:52 you might notice a familiar voice if you watched any of the Ocean Dub back in the day YouTube video

They have Brian Drummond voicing clone Vegeta lol.

👆

That is the voice of Vegeta I ALWAYS defer to when I think of him in the Saiyan saga. The Funimation voiceover just doesn't have the same impact in that arc, imo.

#Nostalgia

Regardless of whether or not you think the 3-part RoF manga is canon to the primary DBS manga, I wanted to post this page just so there is no confusion: the events of RoF still DID occur in mainstream manga continuity...

-DBS Chap. 5

ie. that portion of the story is still canon either way... Which, again, makes it unlikely that Cell will replace Freeza in the manga's rendition of the ToP.

Agreed. Earlier on at some point I went back and watched parts of the Ocean dub on youtube during the Android/Cell and Buu arcs as well, and although they had pretty much the same script as the Funimation dub pretty much word for word, I still felt more compelled with Drummond's Vegeta than I did Sabat's, especially during Goku and Vegeta's rematch prior to Buu's awakening.

It's a shame Ocean dub didn't get to cover the 2nd half of the Namek saga, where Vegeta dies. After where it originally left off with the Ginyu Force and Goku first arriving on Namek (and then Funimation took over), the Ocean dub went on a hiatus up until Trunks killed Frieza and Cold, and just went from there, where it played on Toonami in only certain states. On my end it was all Funimation dub, so I never knew the Ocean dub continued anywhere back then.

There are some voices I still prefer the Funimation dub for though, namely all the post-Frieza villains, Trunks, Hercule, and such.

Drummond did apparently say at one point that him and the Ocean dub did voiceovers for DBZ Kai too which was just waiting for a certain time to be released, tho don't know if that's still happening or not.

I honestly cannot recite the line: "IT'S OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAND!!!!" w/o inserting Drummond's voice(I bet that's what everyone did who just read that sentence, lol.) The only other voice I missed from the Ocean dub was Scott McNeil's Piccolo. That said, the Ocean dub had some laughably ridiculous editing and dialogue to make the show as 'kid-friendly' as possible. Instead of "I'm going to destroy you" it was "I'm going to send you to the next dimension", for example. Painfully childish crap like that...

But most importantly, the Funimation dub still brought us Faulconer's scores... Which made the series SO much better overall. Wouldn't change that for anything, tbh.

Drummond will always be my Vegeta, but Sabat eventually grew on me.

The next dimension makes a ton more sense tbh... cause Goku just teleports to other world all the time.

But while some voices in Ocean Dub suck, like Kaioshin, nothing beats Ian Corlett as Goku, Brian Drummond as Vegeta, and Scott McNeil as Piccolo. and whoever does Krillen, and Bulma, and well everyone from first seasons.

Actuall I even take the Cell/Buu Saga arc Goku who was Trowa in Gundam Wing over Sean Schemmel..

The "next dimension" just became a running gag for people (myself included) once they caught on to the censorship, but it was creative, I'll give 'em that, along with the HFIL substitute for hell. Looking back, was funny how it was pretty much Vegeta who said the whole next dimension thing. He made the line his own, while others only said it once or twice. lol

Other funny shit was Ocean dub Tien saying "Just wait till I grow my arm back" (implying he had regeneration like Piccolo) after losing his arm to Nappa, or Vegeta saying "Your father was an average fighter Kakorat, but he was a brilliant scientist"... The only thing there was to go off of Bardock at the time was the movie, and scientist he was not.

Far as the music, Faulconer's scores were GOAT, but the Ocean dub music had grown on me also, and don't forget, it gave us the iconic rock the dragon intro theme.

Same here. Was also like that for me with the two Frieza voices; Linda Young in the original Funimation run, and Chris Ayres as her replacement for Kai and onward. Ayres has grown on me by now, but I miss Linda's Frieza, whom I wish had been back for RoF at least. ermm

Didn't Piccolo say that Raditz was "faster than the speed of light" when he dodged the SBC in the Ocean dub..?

In one of the dubs, yeah.

Fanfic writers used "Next dimension" gags all the time.

This one writer named Robert Silvers did a Vegeta vs Geocities, where the Saiyan prince tries going into a chat room, gets dissed by all the kids, demands Trunks tell him where Geocities is located, then flies off towards their corporate headquarters, muttering, as the text puts it, "something about another dimension."

Was funnier then I'm probably making it sound. 🙂
