That's just it: Goku has always been willing to learn from others, while Vegeta never wants to listen to anyone -- he already thinks he knows it all. That is likely why Goku tends to reach these pinnacles of power before Vegeta. Tbh, that difference alone speaks volumes about their wildly opposite personalities. mmm

On a related note: imagine if Goku had never learned IT..? That technique has become FAR more useful than Toriyama probably ever intended. He uses it all the time now.

Oh, and did anyone else notice that Piccolo and Roshi were able to sense ASSB Vegeta's power in this episode? Since when can they sense Godly ki..?

What a shameful oversight from Toei. srsly

Piccolo can sense anything except for bug people.

It's hard to know if Vegeta would listen, because no one ever offers him anything.

But he uses the hypergravity chamber his wife made, as well as the Room of Spirit and Time.

He also wasn't so proud he didn't seek help from Whis. Bribed her, in fact. (Took initiative, instead of sitting back and getting plot devices like Goku.)

Whis is the only being Vegeta has ever taken training instruction from. IOW, it literally took a God beyond Gods for Vegeta to f*cking listen, lol.

I mean to catch up to Goku he did let someone give him a giant boost in power....

You mean when he inextricably became SSB in the time between BoG and RoF? Yeah, definitely.

I really hope that's fleshed-out at some point. I mean, Vegeta couldn't even reach SSJ3 on his own, ffs.

He means the Majin powerup.

But again, Vegeta had to scam that. Goku gets all his powerups with no strings attached, while Vegeta has to earn them by selling his soul to an evil wizard or bribe an outer god with goodies. (Or marry an Earth woman he happened to knock up. 😛 )

I think he is referring to Majin Vegeta.

But yeah Vegeta's modus operandi has always been secret training where he relies on the zenkai boosts. Dude destroys his body and won't talk about the particulars if it can be helped. Whis helped with that.

I still want to know how he reached SSB, though. ermm

Haha I love that answer and hope it becomes canon.

Such a Vegeta thing to say.

My personal theory is that prolonged exposure to Gods at the level of Beerus or above causes god ki to seep into you. Conveniently ties up a bit of the powerscaling problems too. It's why Toppo is training under Belmond. If being a GoD just necessitated blowing up planets it wouldn't really need much training but maybe he's just becoming accustomed to the godly ki he's receiving and that is the training.

100% not the case but it's how I handwave things for myself.

I get where you're coming from, but if that were the case Gohan would be a SSB as well...

Gohan dont want no power he wants good math grades...

The look on future Trunks’ face when he got reacquainted with Gohan and had the ice cream with him at that bench is still... priceless. Speaking of, F Trunks probably would’ve been a good asset against Toppo and some of them. Ah well... Him not being brought back one more time to be part of the U7 team was a bigger loss than Buu, tbh.

Royal Blue Vegeta eh? I could roll with that.

But Estacado has already declared Vegeta's new name...

It was said that being on Whis and Beerus planet for a prolong amount of time allowed Vegeta to absorb God energy.

wasn't that just a fan theory?

Sounds like. We would've remembered if that was actually stated.
