Why Popo?

I totally understand what you're saying. But as mentioned: if you can't freely access the thing you have supposedly 'mastered', then it's hard to think of you as a true master at all... It's like saying you 'mastered' a Rubik's Cube, just because you solved it once by accident.

Whis, for example, has actually 'mastered' UI -- he is either in 'mastered-mode' all the time, or can at least access it [instantly] whenever he wants. Even though Beerus hasn't fully mastered UI yet, he can still enter his incomplete iteration of it at will -- so in *that* respect, even HE has 'mastered' the concept of UI far more than Goku at this point. So yeah, it's just hard to think of Goku as a true 'master', but I digress...

I maintain that it should have been called "complete" UI in Goku's case... From my perspective, the only beings who have truly 'mastered' it are the Angels. The next closest is Beerus, because he can at least use UI on *some* level whenever he wants. The next closest is Goku, whose use of UI is wholly subconscious/spontaneous, and ONLY occurs if he is facing an uber-as-f*ck threat that pushes him WAY beyond his limits -- he has no control of it whatsoever.

srug

Nah, none of this.

I hope the english dub gives it a better name though. The full form should not need anything other than Ultra Instinct, and the cheap form should be the one who gets retroactively renamed.

Actually I don't really care, I'll probably keep calling it Blanco

So is Gohan the biggest disappointment or what?

Why even bring up his potential, if he never shows it? He hasn't failed to disappoint since Cell.

I dunno. The idea that the warrior with the most potential actually has zero interest in being a fighter is perhaps one of Dragonball's better ideas. Gohan growing up to have a family/career provides some (mild) depth to the world, and serves to justify why Goku and Co are always fighting to preserve it.

Gohan is the true winner.

Gohan sucks and is a worthless character. We've seen his full potential brought out twice and he's still below both Goku and Vegeta. Imagine if those two had the Elder Kai dance done.

At one point in time they really need to stop bringing it up.

The whole point of ss3 is to bring out latent physical potential. The dance wouldn't do anything to goku. Don't know about vegeta.

Goku even acknowledged that UI only happened by "accident", when he was pushed to the absolute limit:

So he definitely has memory of UI. He just can't access it again... Because he hasn't "mastered" it. 😛

Or hes lying. Surprised no body has mentioned this. This is the same guy who refused to go ss3 against majin vegeta to give him a valid chance in a one on one.

Yes he is worthless, worthless because he ain't doing shit with the power he has. But Gohan still has the most potential and it will remain that way. That's why Vegeta reminded us on that in DBS.

Could be.

But UI us unlike any other transformation Goku has ever had. Aside from that, the episodes did essentially show us that Goku had NO control over UI. It just... Happened.

I don't think he was lying, tbh.

Goku was lying because of SSJ3's time limit. He's never been modest about showing off, just to show off, as we saw when he met Beerus.

If the MUI story continued, he'd probably learn how to meditate and shut off his conscious mind at will by Jiren, what with all the meditation he was doing.

DBS has portrayed Goku as much more of a cocky showoff that DBZ ever did, imo... His fight with future Trunks is a perfect example of that.

Goku is no longer trying to stroke everyones ego by holding back so that they feel better about themselves. He wants to be the strongest, and wants everyone to know he's the strongest. Period.

Probably why Whis likes him so much. He's sort of full of himself too, like most angels are.

And he seems to enjoy getting under Beerus's skin.

They keep saying that, but Goku/Vegeta have long surpassed him and Goku even surpassed GoD level.

Gohan's potential is worthless. Especially with the new thing of "Saiyans have unlimited potential".

Yes and serious Gohan would still just go above Goku, just like that. Problem with Gohan is just that he ain't doing shit. The best was when Trunks in the episode 289 of DBZ came to Gohan to visit him and he said ''So you have completely become a scholar''... Gohan ''I suppose.'' hehehehe.

Sure, I would LOVE to see Gohan in the spotlight again. His SSJ2 moment in the Cell saga and his Mystic moment in the Boo saga were some of the most badass moments in the entire DB lore, period.

...But if DBS was any indication, we'll probably never see Gohan get any legit respect again. He's becoming the Tien of Saiyans, tbh.

I completely agree.

Gohan's "hidden" potential is no greater than Goku or Vegeta. That ship sailed a long time ago.

And like what One Big Mob said. All saiyans have unlimited potential now...
