Now if only Toriyama would take off the blinders, let them train on Yardrat and master sitting on a hill and maybe some unique skills, then let Whis unlock their god ki, then let Merus work them up to at least an imperfect UI and some tactics against stronger opponents.
I mean, they can become relevant without surpassing Goku. Other anime manage it.
Okaaayyyy.
That might be justified, if not used against a completely reasonable criticism which I'm sure most fans agree with.
The supporting cast has been criminally underutilized since the Freeza Saga, and this is despite a wealth of options to make them relevant again. Virtually everything I mentioned could tier them up as a legitimate threat to sub apex characters. Like most of Jiren's crew, or perhaps even demoted top dogs like Hit.
So do you think Vegeta's recent power ups puts him over Freeza?
And if so, would the paradigm shift yet again if Freeza had access to the same training?
I'm seeing a vision of Vegeta fighting and soundly defeating Freeza, only to pull a face heel turn and propose an alliance against Goku. His progress essentially reawakens his competitive edge, and realizing he can never beat UI even with his tricks, he hatch's a scheme to humble Goku through a temporary alliance.
Maybe Freeza and Vegeta even become fast friends in the process, since Vegeta never cared about Planet Vegeta or his subjects, and they both have an intense rivalry with Goku.
It sounds unlikely, but let's remember Majin Vegeta was a thing. He murdered a lot of innocent people, and threw away his pride as an individualist to gain an advantage.
Hell, he even cold clocked Goku from behind, so his warrior's code is less a code and more guidelines.
Vegeta as he is now, would never do that. He's full of regret for doing what he did to Namek, and is more of a hero now than Goku is.
As for Majin Vegeta he decided that when he realized Goku was so much stronger than him because he basically stopped training as hard without his rival around. His pride broke the evilness Majin mode created though after he had already killed people.
As for knocking Goku out from behind, he never considered that a win, it was more of a, I need to clean up my own mess prideful thing. And right now he's on par with Goku in power. UI not withstanding but it's also not something that Goku can reliably use yet.
But Vegeta did care about his planet, it's why he hated Freeza forever. So along with that and now Bra being alive, and wanting to be the hero she can be proud of, he would never work with Freeza.
