This is why a creator of a famous franchise should never cave in to fans stupidity. The story of Goku was meant to end with Cell. The era of Gohan was the next step, but Akira gave in made Goku the main character again.
Vegeta's character development go so messed up, it's even worse than whore getting a train ran on her.
Unlike Goku, Gohan wasn't so 1 dimensional as a character. Fighting wasn't all he cared for. He was fighter while at the same wanting a normal life.
DBS is even worse since Akira is focusing on only Goku and Vegeta, while magically forgetting everyone else.
Gohan who is by far at the end of the Buu saga the strongest non fused character is nothing but a fodder for mere underling to slap away.
I miss the days when DB fights were more about the Martial Arts and not just shooting blast willy nily and taking 5 eps just to power up.
I do enjoy both Gohan and Goku but i'm kinda glad they keep Goku as the main hero. Its has been his story since the beginning. It seems wrong to make a new main character. imo (He is also good comedic relief)
But yea. I really do hope they somehow get at least Piccolo and Gohan back on competing grounds.
I loved how back in DB they had cool techniques and had to fight with actual Martial Arts. The energy blasts back then were the WTF awesome moments.

I like Goku, but too me, i thought Gohan was the far better written character. Goku thought process was either food or training, or both.
Gohan struggled with what he wanted. I like the fact that he sometimes had too choose either to become a scholar, or fighter.
The beginning of the Majin saga proved he could do both, and i like that about him.
You're right about the fights and techniques in the original DB. I remember the first time i saw the Wolf Fang Fist attack, or Tien's 6 arm technique, and powerful blast weren't being thrown around every 5 seconds.
Energy attacks were secondary back then, techniques were the norm, and i kinda miss that.

In the end, I guess I still look forward more to the new content the series will add, than seeing how the recent movies are retold. Main thing that's kept me invested in this, come to think of it.
I understand Galan stopped following this series? =( Understandable I guess. Super's definitely not up to snuff for everyone...

Either way, your mind is clearly way too focused on that one-track. Relax.
How can anyone think Movie Goku and Beerus are stronger in the movie?

You have to admit that this series does have a lot of padding and fanservice. It get annoying when you find out that there's really no excuse to drag the series out like this either.
You compare this to the start of DB and DBZ however and it's moving at lightspeed. Even moreso with DBZ considering you don't have to worry about Super going back to the Raditz arrival when Goku was fighting Frieza a week earlier.

They don't. They think the fight was better written, choreographed, and overall a more pleasurable experience to watch. It's the same reason people think Goku vs Vegeta Saiyan Saga is the best fight even though both are incredibly weak characters in the larger picture when the fight occurs.
