STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Trackdown

Relle pipes up.

"Is there any way we can land and get this sorted out? We're wasting fuel up here."

Whether because Relle asked a simple question or because the man doesn't want to listen to Con ramble any further, he stops you.

"Okay, okay, let me clear this with my supervisor, hang on," he says, annoyed.

You wait an awkward moment before he returns to the line.

"We're granting you clearance. Please proceed along the designated flight path. Transmitting codes now."

Azarl- instructions appear on your readout for how to approach the starport.

Woo Azarl take us down.

The New Beginning descends into the thin but dusty atmosphere of Gembrell. As you expected from Con's description and based on what you saw from space, you skim across the tops of several short mountain ranges with high, narrow peaks. You see activity- miners accompanied by heavy load droids, moving equipment and material.

In the stretches between these mountain ranges, the mining operation has been busy at work reshaping the planet's surface. Open-cast mining is the name of the game- massive pits spiraling downward into soil and rock and crust. It is a highly destructive method and they appear to be doing in en masse.

The starport itself is located at the bottom of the largest of these pits, several kilometers across. It is mainly an open landing field with a traffic control tower, which sports some sophisticated communications array. It is adjacent to a small, flat town. All of you find your attention drawn to the massive warehouse that overshadows everything else in the pit. It is cylindrical and metal and flanked by a battery of turbolasers.

Well that seems a little overkill for a warehouse.

"I wonder what they're keeping in there," Relle says. She looks down at the traffic control tower. "The Bureau might be set up in there. I don't see any other complicated comms equipment elsewhere in the city, unless the Bureau is using the warehouse and it's just concealed."

"I think you are unto something Relle. Perhaps getting closer look at it will be in the future."

We can assume Azarl can land a ship without messing up terribly, but you all do get a little start when you make it down into the starport. You're not the only vessel here, which you aren't surprised about. There are a trio of HUGE cargo transports docked, with crews hustling about the tarmac. You see launch pads for a handful of defensive stuntfighters.

But you also see a Bureau dropship. The kind that delivers Osokans.

Well screw that...Azarl take us back up!!!!!

Well hopefully there won't be an armed welcome wagon this time around.

Azarl isn't particularly happy to see the dropship. He expected a Bureau presence but not Osokans. Maybe they didn't bring any this time and just used it for something else?

(But the evil GM wouldn't say that otherwise...)

Azarl will land the ship.

Relle grimaces. She knows that the beasts are formidable opponents against even Dark Jedi such as themselves. She's heard the stories from the group and maybe come up against them before, once or twice.

"Good thing we came armed," Relle says. "If Osokans are here, this isn't going to be as easy as we thought."

"But we can't fight them here," Azarl says. "We need to keep this quiet. We infiltrate, use the system, cover our tracks, and get out of here. No explosions, no lightsabers, no blasters. Otherwise, this becomes a mess fast."

"Azarl is right. We need to find where they keep their communications equipment so we can use it to track down Dak's ship. Best guess is the warehouse which means we need to figure out how to get in quietly and discreetly. Azarl and I are the best people to handle the equipment and make sure they know we weren't there."

Xavier catches his breath a bit, "Of course we still need lots of information to do that. Perhaps Relle is the best suited for getting up close and getting that information without people knowing."

Relle nods.

"Rianna and I both," Relle says. "If she's up for it." She nudges her counterpart, knowing that Rianna isn't much for nudges.

"Oh yes Rianna as well," Xavier says as he watches Relle nudge the dark jedi wondering how much a bad decision that is.

As Azarl finishes landing the New Beginning (which Xavier will jealously note that the bug did without the usual jolt that Xavier gets when he lands this bucket of bolts), everyone sees a small speeder closing the short distance between the control tower and the ship. Seated within are a pair of men in the crisp gray uniforms of Bureau officers and another pair in less-sharp military uniforms.

"Oh good," Azarl says, seeing the Bureau getting themselves involved almost immediately. "Con, time to talk us out of this before it becomes a mess."

"Make this work Con," Xavier vaguely threatens Con to do a good job. Nothing too bad afterall he doesn't really plan on hurting any of them ever.

"Would be easier if we had workable permits, buddy"

I suppose we'll go outside and greet them. See what they have to say, bit unusual to be welcomed by 4 agents/soldiers.

Azarl will stay aboard the ship, ready to jet out of there at a moment's notice if this goes south.
