They do for something as crucial as that. That would be like one writer claiming Thanos can fly... but not every writer giving him that same ability. It's a MAJOR part of the character. There is no power a writer has given Thanos, that other writers don't. THAT is the issue here. Some writers writing superman to have mental blocks, and others not, means there is NO consistency there. There is no established canon for Superman with inconsistency. THAT is the issue at hand here.

Shields will protect Thanos momentarily but that doesn't solve the mystery of how Thanos will not get hit when he drops the shields in order to attack.
Superman can easily avoid energy projection or counter it by attacking first.

No one is claiming Superman is a skyfather level being. We are claiming that he is when he COMPLETELY LET'S LOOSE. How many times has he done this? Not very many. It's called a stipulation and not to be wrongly misconstrued as a general statement.
