Do you see that glass material that is cracking around Superman? That was a shield covered around his entire body. The force was enough to crack the shield but we don't even know if Superman felt any of that. Unusable th3.
"It's a pity, Superman, that the source did not choose to protect you from its effects as it did Scott and me."
From Metron the all knowing. It couldn't be made any more clear that Superman suffered the brunt of it, and the shield didn't protect him much, if at all (It was designed to keep him in, not shield him from outside effects.)

What effects? Think about it. At the end of the day, he was shielded and the effects happened AFTER the blast.

Well, they did show his body warping and distorting in another scan. That, and as you said, the shield is in pieces. I doubt those floating shards provided very much defense, after initially being blown apart.
The shield was there though and that is the important part. It crashing after the attack was done makes the scene highly questionable.

Also, the scene that you posted happened AFTER the explosion. When the pan dimension broke, I'm guessing the shield broke afterwards.
We also have Metrons word.
Given his status as a knowledge seeker who doesn't have any social graces, sense of sarcasm, nor is subject to hyperbole, his assessment means a lot.
If he claims he was harmed for lack of protection, then he was probably harmed.

He was harmed from the EFFECTS after the blast. Superman didn't feel the blast. That was the reason for the shield in the first place.

All of this happens within the same time frame. So both dies instantly.
