When those people you named come out with movies that hit the theatre world wide. When they come out with video games every yr. Holla at me. You are wrong again buddy, here in Germany or Poland no one cares or knows about the movies except the fans, and it won't be in the movie theaters. The game sells are medicore at best.
In Germany I would say for example that One Piece and Naruto are far more popular than DB. In Poland I can just guess but they are not much into manga to my knowledge, comics were once popular and now i dunno, I buy sometimes Bialy Orzel if it comes out but that's it.
So no, Goku is not more popular and never will be. The Iconic status of Superman is kind of unique, who comes close is Batman, Spiderman and maybe Wolverine. At least most know them. Due to the tv shows like BBT and Flash, flash might also become more popular, he already is, in european country better known and hence popular than Goku.
