Technically, RoF is not canon, either. Only anime counts these days. We have to wait and see if they repeat that scene.

Did you read Kingdom Come? It shows that Kal depending on who writes him can overcome any loss when it comes to doing the right thing. The right thing was saving Mongul.

What happened after Super Buu/Kid Buu killed all of Goku's family? He wished for Buu to be reincarnated just so they could fight again. Father/Husband/Best Friend of the year there folks.
