Tol Braga claimed that he broke Vitiate's hold. SWTOR - E (a neutral source) reveals that he was under control of Vitiate when Hero of Tython confronted him. Hero of Tython assisted Braga in breaking free from Vitiate's telepathic influence just like in the case of Warren Sedoru and Leeha Narezz.
Revan and Malak couldn't outright shrug off Vitiate's telepathic influence. They managed to reduce Vitiate's telepathic hold on them with passage of time. Vitiate's telepathic hold over Revan was completely extinguished due to the mindwipe that was performed on Revan by the Jedi High Council. I am not sure when or if Malak managed to break free.
Also, you think that Revan, Malak and Braga are not in the league of Darth Maul? You've got to be kidding me.
Revan and Braga are officially among the strongest and most resolute Jedi of the Order. Revan, by all accounts, is among the most powerful Force-users of the mythos.
Malak is also counted among the most powerful Sith Lords.
Do your homework.
