To be fair Europe was introduced to Islam 100's of years ago. There's also countries in Europe like Bosnia, Bulgaria and Turkey that already have large groups of Muslims indigenous to that country. Large parts of what are now Spain and Italy were settled by Muslims for 100's of years.
Islam is no different than the Christianity, the only difference is that some still take it literally and others don't (due to society being against it).

but here's a counter question... if it's not true that islam discriminates against women... then why do countries that adhere to a version of 'shariah' have things like charging rape victims with adultery, forcing women to cover up in public, disallowing women from driving, requiring that women have a man with them when they are out and about, etc
i'll never understand why liberals come to the defense of islam. it seems like islam is an embodiment of a lot of the old school type thinking that liberalism is supposed to be against. oddly enough, liberals in non islamic societies defend islam cause they're worried about islamaphobia, but that is strictly a one way street. because if you take your liberal beliefs to an islamic society they aren't going to win you much sympathy.
