Actually, my response would be what TI just posted:

This is a very valid point and a grim prediction of what is yet to come, if the "welcome all" policy will be continued.

But you can't use the already discredited reading of the article to support this claim....that's the issue.

The article makes no statement about rise of crime or make up of suspects (or better convicted criminals) in general...so your claim is unsupported.

-Crime hasn't risen 96% in Cologne.

-The 96% of immigrants suspected is for one incident of crime.

Can we all just accept that they're not understanding this because they don't want to and move on?

TBH that can be verified if these suspects will be found guilty or not.

The other perspective that is crucial:

It would be interesting to know how many mass sexual assaults were noted in Cologne before the migrants arrival. My guess is, not many.

It's probably true that there weren't many, however there likely won't be many from this case either, which has more to do with Germany's ****ed up and outdated laws of what constitutes sexual assault and rape.

What do you mean? Can you elaborate.

I hope this doesn't turn into blaming the victims. God. I really hope he isn't that twisted

I think a few things should be established and we should be honest about it.
I was of the mindset that it was a good thing Europe was welcoming in refugees, but the news that is being reported isn't good. Sure it might be a small minority but that's just the ones being reported. If you're literally begging another country to let you in you shouldn't be treating the people that welcome you in bad. This is making me look at this refugee crisis in a slightly different angle. I'm no longer so in favor of it now.

But at the end of the day it's not for me to decide what a country across the Atlantic should or shouldn't do with regards to the people they allow into their country. And it's still to early to tell what will happen, I highly doubt the refugees will be responsible for the destruction and moral bankruptcy of Europe. At best Europe will benefit from acquiring more people for the work force at worst a few more of these incidents will arise in the future.

That's an interesting insight and a quite balanced perspective.

I can understand your stance as a few of my friends have had similar. On the other hand, as the crisis progresses everyone turns into more anti-migrants positions.

On a side note, I agree that migrants will not be responsible for moral decay of Europe.

That already has been happening for a time now.👆

Unfortunately (and shockingly) it does sound as if he's blaming the victims...

I hope Bardock will clear up what he meant.

Actually what he said is that laws are poorly written and hard to file, so that limits the number of reported rapes.

Unless the victims were the ones who made such laws he isn't blaming any victims.

how did he blame them?

I live in Germany and though I see some problems with the migration because of different mindsets and social structures I also see the opportunities and the responsibility of us, the west, to help those that are bombed and robbed by our governments and companies.
