European Migration Crisis

It's funny how paranoid and fearsome some types here about migrants.

There's all this talk of being strong, making other countries respect us... but then, "oh no, there may be some bad people among hundreds of thousands who need our help, LOCK ALL THE DOORS AND BAR THE WINDOWS! Hide, hide, the migrants and refugees will kill us allll~l!".

How are they supposed to look strong when they quake with fear so openly and so often? You can't build a reputation so corned on appearance of strength that they want, if you let yourself look so weak.

They aren't MIGRANTS!

They are REFUGEES!

Being afraid of refugees is even worse, IMO, because it means they're people in very real need of help.

Here's a page that says how many refugees we currently take in. Honestly it makes Obama's promise to take in 10,000 look pretty weak, since that's less than we take in from Myanmar.

You know, I have nothing against the idea of people staying into their countries to fight the good fight, but I have no right to force them into death just because of my values. If they cannot technically win a conflict, in no good consience I can say "stay and fight until they kill you". If they are organizing for a non conventional combat that's an entirely different thing.

I don't brag about this kind of thing TI. It makes it sound as if I expect other people to do as much as I do, which is besides the point. Every community that embraces the idea of helping is already participating in a common effort.

What do you care? You realize that we are arguing and that the validity of our arguments doesn't change because of unrelated actions we engage, right? And then what? Will you admit I'm a better man than you? Do I need you to show you some receipt to prove I've donated money or pictures of me buying food and going to a camp?

I really find it tastless when people show off like that and while I like you I feel that it's a big effort just to win your admiration.

Anyways, you've read my know my expectations on what the UE should do for this crisis and for the future, I'm not partial towards admitting a huge number of immigrants in Europe, I listed several different options considering rather realistic expectations. If I admit people in my household is a personal choice (mine and my wife's) that has little to do with what I consider to be good for the Union.

People here talk and talk about letting illegal immigrants into America. Yet they most likely wont give change to people at the corner.

Everyone here knows I am against illegal immigration but you know what, I give money out to the poor whenever I can and usually they are black and Mexican people. So I do, do something. Does that mean I believe in illegal immigration and welfare to blacks. No it does not.

Letting in a bunch of people into the EU who you have no clue who they are and pawning them off on communities is idiocracy. Which is why I doubt the people here who are for it, would not put those people in their house because their eRighteouness ends with their keyboard.

As long as we agree it's besides the point of what we are discussing.

We all know there is a lot of hypocresy going around in the internet about these refugees, you don't need to target anyone here directly since their personal activities don't really reflect general trends or policies anyways. Calling many pro-immigrant backers hypocrite is likely a fair statement.
