He has precog but suddenly whenever they look bad precog suddenly doesn't count as an ability. Vader had one hand. He wasn't armed either. Kirk couldn't beat Khan with Khan just letting him punch him. Khan also was about to crush Spock's skull despite Spock initially being armed against an unarmed Khan.

I haven't read it but I've heard the hyperbole cited a few times. Yeah, in sod he wasn't that impressive and needed a three on one advantage to kill Mother Talzin.
