Everyone is racist, as long as we have our brains and the ability to distinguish things we'll all be racist to a degree.
The important thing is the degree to which people are racist, too much is bad. Anyway, if you're a minority (especially in a uneducated country), you're going to experience racism.

I'm sure it does but why didn't you illustrate the circumstances of the second situation rather then just use the race brush to say see told you so?

Allright... This is something I take for granted, living near one of the most racially diverse areas in the states, and end up seeing this all the time, but...
To "specifically" illustrate, there was a young asian girl who was allegedly being abused/beaten by her foster father, who was white. He owned a gun, left it lying around the house, loaded, with the safety off (I support gun rights myself, but that's stupid), and she ended up getting ahold of it, and it went off and ended his life.
The jury had no sympathy whatsoever for her.. Their logic seemed to be, if she didn't pick up the gun, he'd still be alive. Never mind that she was probably scared out of her wits and panicking, or he was the one who carelessly left the weapon lying around with a teen in the house..
We just read Claudia Rankine's "Citizen" in my Lyric Essay class, and it's really eye-opening. It's a record of all the times Rankine (or people close to her) experience racism. I'd recommend it simply as a good read, but also as an education on the subtle (and also horribly blunt) ways that black Americans face distrust and erasure.

I'm confused because you quoted me as saying something I didn't actually say.
But anyways, there are also forms of racism people would call beneficial. Affirmative action, for example.
On top of that there is the stigma that comes with anyone who isn't black or hispanic talking about experiencing racism. I suppose Asians can as well, but people will kind of laugh it off if you're white. They will even say weird things like "blacks can't be racist against whites because they never oppressed whites". Which doesn't even begin to make sense. You can look down on someone due to their race without EVER having been oppressed in your life.
