I wasn't too keen on the music either. However, I was listening to the soundtrack today and that's pretty decent. It doesn't seem to match the scenes very well.
And another thing. Everyone kinda likes how it ties in exactly with ANH. But I wonder how it goes from here. Do they just fly on normal speed all the way to Tatooine with a Star Destroyer on their butt? Do they go to light speed and then how does Vader track them down? Plus he says in ANH: 'several transmission were beamed to this ship by rebel spies.'
Firstly: they weren't beamed, they were brought.
Secondly: has Leia gone stupid saying they were on a diplomatic mission to Alderaan when her ship just fled the battle of Scarif? I mean, knowing Vader traced the right away why would Leia come up with such a stupid lie.
Vader seems to buy it 'You weren't on any mercy mission this time'. He means to say: you just fled the battle of Scarif where you stole the plans to the Death Star and I've been on your a$$ for the last couple of... hours/days... Why didn't they jump to light speed to Yavin 4??? Why did she go to OB1 first? 'My ship has fallen under attack", she lies... No, she attacked the Imperials...
All prequels are in a habit to make liars of our favourite OT characters. I think Ackbar's cousin should have really beamed it to Leia's ship somewhere far away before his ship was totally ravaged by a furious Vader. Just follow what the previously movies set out. Reinterpretation usually means the characters in the older movies lie.
It's weird sometimes in the PT and in this one: they fill up these movies to references to the OT (TFA and RO especially). Yet, sometimes I wonder if they actually watch these films...
